I get into our HR systems on a regular basis. I can't randomly look up someone's birthday or age. I have higher access than most people and even my level of access is limited.

This is also because of age discrimination laws; you cannot discriminate against employees over age 40, so...no we can't go in randomly and see it. At a prior job, team asked for it and I said no. The only thing they know at this job is the month because we can take any day we want that month off. My boss does not in fact know the actual day, so IDK how her boss knows unless she happened to see it because she has higher level access.

I'd genuinely rather not have the attention. I absolutely loathe it. I didn't have a graduation party for high school or college. If I ever get married, I think I would prefer parents/siblings only. I just don't like being the center of attention unless I'm performing or giving a speech. Since a lot of people just don't understand this, I have a personal policy of not sharing

Even at my company, HR can't see everything. Of course, I'm only there for a week after vacation and then onto another job.

Technically, there is central HR and local HR at my company. Central HR can see everything but local HR can't .

I don't know what the law is there, or company policy. But where I worked, they used to hand a list up every month with all the birthdays of employees that month. So everyone could see. No one can give out your address or phone number, but birthdays were fair game. I've never had a job where the boss couldn't see when my birthday was.

When I first started working for my old architectural firm, they had a small celebration for everyone’s birthday, or just before or after if it fell on a weekend. But, at the beginning, there were only about 10 of us, including the partners (3 at the time).
After the firm grew to over 30 or so, they went to monthly birthday celebrations for all that had birthdays that month.
There would be various office-provided treats, like cupcakes, breakfast tacos, etc.
At one point, there were 6 of us that had October birthdays…!!!!! :hilarious:

One cool thing cast members can do for the little ones at the parks is having Mickey and friends wish the birthday child a happy birthday. We learned that you approach a CM and tell them your kid is having a birthday. The CM can dial up the characters on the telephone then give the telephone receiver to the child and the child can hear a recording of Mickey and friends wishing him or her a Very Happy Birthday.

Nice! Here, the person whose birthday it is brings treats for their coworkers. Kind of like in elementary school, where the kids bring treats on their birthdays, but here it's adults too.... Work, clubs, organizations... If it's my birthday, I'm supposed to bring treats for choir, for my coworkers, etc.

Yeah, I have access to payroll because of accounting needs. But because of my needs, I can't see date of birth/birthdays.

Prior job they asked for it because they do treats. Desserts are challenging anyway with the food allergies, and I just am like "no thanks."

Plus there are people who have emotions surrounding their birthday for whatever reason. My brother dislikes his because our great aunt who we were close to died on his birthday and that's all he can think of.

My previous boss did work anniversary for me instead. I preferred that honestly.

I need some help. I’m about to post a review of monsters unchained in the epic universe thread but the spoiler feature isn’t working for me. Can anyone help me with this? Please?
