I remember when the first Whole Foods Market opened here in Austin back in 1980, down on Lamar Blvd.
It had major damage from the 1981 Labor Day floods, but they rebuilt, and the rest is history…!!! :)
Although, we still don’t shop there much, as it’s also been known as “Whole Paycheck Market” for decades…!!!!! :hilarious:
I think Eataly has Whole Foods beat. It's not a proper grocery store but damn, some things are so expensive.

The first time I went to Disneyland was in July of 1968, when I was about 3 months shy of turning 6 years old.
We went again in 1970 and 1972, before we moved back to Texas in 1976.
We went again in 1987, the year Star Tours opened, and the last time we visited Disneyland was, unfortunately, in 2010.
We’ve recently discussed about goin’ back soon, but no immediate plans to do so, as we’ve got another (Carnival) cruise coming up.
The memories from my childhood of Disneyland are very vivid though, and some of my favorite, for sure…!!!
Hopefully I’ll make it for the 75th.

Kroger is the one I wish existed up here.
I have experience with the parent company that owners Kroger. Kroger Co. owns different banners of grocery stores including Pick'n Save and Kroger.

My feelings of Kroger Co. are bad due to what they did to Pick'n Save. Pick'n Save is a long time grocer chain in Wisconsin that Kroger Co. now owns since 2015 after they bought Roundy's.

When Kroger took over Pick'n Save from Roundy's, the Pick'n Save chain went down hill in the city I live in. There are issues with customer service such as only having one check out open and having most of the 10 self check out lanes close. The Pick'n Save stores in my area has a under staffed reputation also.

It's still referred to as Whole Paycheck up here as well. I rarely ever go in there -- not a fan of the store at all. I do a lot better at the more general supermarkets around here, not to mention the prices are more in line with my food budget.

We like the store just fine, but we hardly ever shop there, even for maybe just a few items, because of the prices.
We have a local radio station talk show host that was the first string field goal kicker for the Texas Longhorns back in the early to mid 80’s. He once told how, when he was at UT, you could go down to that first Whole Foods Market location and just kinda’ graze on the offerings that were out, and he admitted to doing it many times…!!!!! :hilarious:

I’m not familiar with Eataly, but if they’re even more expensive than Whole Foods, I’m pretty certain I never will be…plus, it looks like the closest one to us is in Dallas, so, even if so, that ain’t gonna’ happen anytime soon…!!! ;)

I spend a lot of time in SC (3 weeks to a month per year), so I'm familiar with southern grocery stores. I don't get the big deal with Publix.

Kroger is the one I wish existed up here.
I've never been impressed with Publix and have always found them more expense. I say always but it only took two tries before I stopped going there. There are a few here in the Raleigh area.

Kroger, on the other hand has left the area completely. I don't know why, they were OK. I am now more impressed with Food Lion, good prices and good quality. Here the big money goes to Harris Teeter. We also have a couple of Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and The Fresh Market (cost is to high and have never found the value of those three) plus about 10 others in the area. I frequent Food Lion and Walmart mostly because of the location. If lack of any weight loss is a measure, those two are just as good as any and at a much lower price.
