I agree. I just don’t know why their tourism department keeps saying that it’s safe and deaths are unrelated to one another. Obviously I know why they want to say that, but if proven wrong they’ll look worse than owning it.

A vacation is not worth risking my life, or even being on edge the entire time. I was just hopeful after the press conference was announced, thought of the possibility of receiving positive news today.. proof that it’s really medical conditions or something, and then we would be able to go.
I just need to get over it, I know.

My knowledge of the DR is extremely minimal, but I would assume that tourism is a big part of their economy. I'm sure they're under pressure to downplay any negative press. Somewhat in their defense, until a clear reason is determined as to why these deaths have occured, they can't really make a definitive statement. However, I don't believe, (from what I've heard), that they were exactly forthcoming with the news of "all" of the fairly recent deaths of tourists. That's enough for me to be cautious, and stay away.

I think that @RedNoseMickey is saying that most visitors from the UK come on a package deal. We don't get any room rate offers and the tickets are bundled in with a flight/hotel/hirecar deal.
Your overall bundles are better than ours. Your airfare though is rough to the states. So I understand the reason Disney offers the bundles at better resorts than that are offered to those of us state side. Going solo in a single room is always more expensive than split the tab of double occupancy.
I have seen quite a steep price increase since my first trip in 2011. I still love WDW and will continue to visit. I'm fortunate that I can afford it but I certainly understand other people deciding not to.

I'll try and catch up more later. Right now I am at Heathrow airport waiting on my flight to Doha, I'll transfer there onto my flight to Bali.
I went straight from work to the airport and started my holiday with dinner at a Lebanese restaurant near my gate. The food was tasty and the service friendly so a good start to my 20 hours of travelling. IMG_20190621_192801.jpg

While walking to my gate I saw these beautiful Jacob's ladders. The picture doesn't do it justice.

Hawaii instituted a bag fees on plastic bags. There's some exceptions, but it's basically 15 cents a bag.

As we're checking out from the gift shop at Aulani, Dad asks the CM if they're one of the exceptions. The CM says unfortunately no.
Dad: "Well, it's a good thing I have a Disney World bag right here." As he pulls it out of his pocket.
CM: 😂 Got anything else in your pockets?
Me: He's basically Mary Poppins, so...
I always have a folded shopping bag in my purse, they are very popular in the UK and the Netherlands. Hardly any shop has free bags these days which is a good thing.

A quick peek at our day today, we toured the Disney Studios and ended the day with dinner (we sat at Walt’s table) at the Tam O’Shanter and ice cream at Ample Hills. I have more pictures but those are on my regular camera.

Good night and he sounds like he was a very interesting person
He was! I find him fascinating. And it sounds like he had a very serious sense of justice. When he was serving in the Civil war, he was asked to drive a cotton-picking crew, and he refused because they were slaves, and he was angry...why were they fighting to free the slaves if they wanted him to drive slaves!?
When he was secretary of state in Kansas, he refused to preside over the organization of the house, because he couldn't find anything in the laws that said he had the authority to do so.

So DD came home and said several kids were caught for plagiarism. One of the boys' reports was 61% copied from other texts. And the teacher even warned them before hand not to try that, because they have some sort of checker on their app or computers, etc...and still, people tried.

Okay, so this is going to sound ridiculous, but dh were arguing about the bean farting poem. I learned it as “Beans, beans they’re good for your heart, the more you eat the more you fart. , etc”. He says I am wrong and he learned it as “Eat beans, they’re good for your heart.” So who is right? Is this a geographical thing?? Or what?
I learned it "Beans Beans, the musical fruit, the more you eat the more you toot. The more you toot, the better you feel, so let's have beans for every meal."
