Am I reading that correctly... your Dad's name was Russ? So is mine... whoda thunk it?
Seriously?
Yes, his name was Russ, in English. His Ukrainian name translated to either Russell or Jerry; and my Baba couldn't pronounce Jerry.
He was King to the grandchildren and great-nieces and nephews.

I actually called him Russell for almost 30 years. Growing up, he had a nickname for me that I HATED, so in retaliation I started calling him Russell when I was a teenager. It kind of became my nickname for him, given that nobody ever called him that except me.

In telling, it sounds disrespectful, but you know it wasn't.

My name is Russell, but, I usually go by Russ casually. My dad's name was also Russell (called Russ). Why don't you tell us what that nickname was so that we can refrain from calling you that. You know I would refrain because I'm that kind of guy. Grumpy, but, considerate! An American trait, I believe. :devilish:

Remember how I said that it turns out I don't actually hate Friends - just the theme song?

Well, I was wrong. I do hate Friends.

I hate Ross. I hate Monica. I'm meh about Chandler and Rachel.
And Phoebe and Joey are too quirky to carry the whole show. (That would be like Seinfeld with only Kramer and Puddy.)

I am done with Friends.

He called me Nella Rella.

There was even a song - Nella Rella had a fella. EIEIO
And this a fella, he a smella. EIEIO

It did get shortened to Nellski over the years, which was tolerable.

It's good that I told you; you know, because folks are always stumbling and accidentally calling people Nella Rella.

I watch Friends reruns all the time. I like the show. I never watched when it was actually on the air, but, now I find it funny. As far as characters are concerned, I'm neutral about Chandler, Monica and Joey. But I never did like Ross (to whiny) and Rachel was a self involved (sounds like witch). They were on a d amn break!!! My favorite was Phoebe. I admired her ability to play a character that was able to fluctuate between sane and completely whacked out so convincingly.

I've actually never watched Friends.

It started before I was born and ended when I was 9. Parents never watched it, so it's never been on in our house.

I was thinking about watching a few episodes now that it's on Netflix. Maybe this summer.

I like Sleeping Beauty. Cinderella is fine. Cannot stand Snow White. I like the Seven Dwarfs, but not Snow White. I only watch it once every few years for this reason.

I told my screenwriting teacher from senior year of high school that. His response: "What kind of a Disney fan are you?":joyfull:

You don't like Snow White! That's unforgivable! :p;)

Snow White is my favorite of the princess films followed closely by Sleeping Beauty.

When March Madness isn't happening it is on for two hours straight on TBS every day. It doesn't take to long to go through all 10 years. It actually makes it more interesting because it's easier to follow the development of the characters over time.

I love Friends, funny been watching reruns for the last hour. I'm a Pheb fan too but a tie with Joey, his facial expressions alone are enough to crack me up. I always liked that there wasn't ultimately one main character so there was a lot of diversity in focus. The episodes always make me laugh so job well done.

Yeah, but if I watch it on Netflix, I don't have to watch commercials. And I can watch it straight through.:p
