I've been a grandparent for almost 19 years now and to tell the truth the novelty has somewhat worn off. When they were little tykes it was different. My youngest Granddaughter just turned 7, but, I got that same fuzzy feeling the first time she called me Gampa! She had me at Gampa!

Yep, Emy already had my heart a long time ago ;), but, yes, it’ll be so very sweet to hear her call me “Pappy” for the first time...!!!!! :happy: :)

Oh wow! I loves me a TV that takes up a whole room!! :joyfull::joyfull::joyfull: That's always the fun aspect of staying in hotel rooms--oversized TVs. :inlove::inlove:

Really though, your accommodations are super nice there. :happy:

The one TV in the bathroom mirror was maybe a 13” TV size it was more like a hologram vs a TV and in the lower left corner of mirror. Nice touch. The main TV was large in the main area of room.

AWESOME AND CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!! :joyfull::)

But, after thanking him profusely and giving him a big smack on the lips, did you then promptly ask him who he was and what had he done with the real Phil...?!?!?! :cautious::cyclops:
:eek::D;):)

Seriously though, again, major CONGRATS...!!!!!!! :)

The Chains gave it away (and then double confirmed it with the fireplace!)

Oh funny!!!!

The Beaded Curtain Wall was getting a great deal of attention given it was referred to on the day after Christmas “The Pres grows a new wall, now a Beaded Curtain Wall.”

So of course every guest had to have their photo with The Wall. We were seated by the fireplace so we just gawked at the photo ops You would have thought it was Buzz and Woody. Full disclosure, we all had our photo ops before most checked in. Nice pic of you and the wall, pretty

Congrats. The hotel is beautiful. W liked their pan Asian restaurant but I'm not sure your ds will like it. They have a place that has burgers and such.
Well, the good news is we'll have a car for that portion of our trip, so we can always do McDonalds runs for him. But my plan is that we'll do one meal at Three Broomsticks, and one at The Leaky Cauldron...I need to look at menus to decide if those will be dinners or breakfasts, or what. There's also a Minion character breakfast that looks like it might be fun. I've thought of the luaua, but DS definitely won't eat any of that, so I'm reluctant to spend that kind of money for it....it's like $80 per person, I think....we'll see.

Schaumberg.....isn't that just a few miles from Dundee, Elgin, etc? Wave to my mom's family for me if you go through there!

There's BK in Citywalk, a diner at Cabana Bay, Mythos is one you'll want to check out, Lombardi's has a few things he may eat also check out the menus at Confiscos. Antijitos is a fun place for Tex Mex the table side guacamole is excellent and the boys liked Margaritaville for the food and burping volcano. I've done a few luaus so at 80 per person with just so so reviews I'd skip it IMHO. Stay away from from qs burgers at UNI!!!!!

Oh, I'm going nowhere near a QS burger on my vacation. There are WAY too many other options and I can get a burger any time. IF we go to a McDonalds, it will pretty much be just for DS to get his chicken nuggets. (he won't eat the ones at burger king...at least not here, but we'll see what happens when there's no mcDonalds around and he's starving.) I just got my Unofficial guide to Universal Orlando 2019 on New Years Eve, so I'm reading that and I'll start with my planning in earnest this next week. I need to join touringplans.com so I can see the crowd calendar and plan which days we want to be where so I can put together an outline of ADRs I want to make.

I hate to be mean but I think you should do your first UNI day the way we did. Diagon Alley first before you do anything else. Rope drop and spend the morning there. It'll take at least that long to explore the nooks and crannies. Here's the maybe mean part eat lunch at LC or Lombardi's depending on the menus and the take the HE to Hogwarts for until you've seen all of it. DA is the more amazing of the 2 lands but we wanted to see it in the order Harry saw things if that makes sense. We skipped Escape until after Hogwarts seeing you have to ride the train both ways
