For the record, I have and will continue to say a big fat ā€œNoā€ to hockey and lacrosse at this stage, despite the repeated begging. Hockey will remain a NO as long as he’s under my roof.. lacrosse will depend on how far he goes with baseball.. one or the other with those sports, for me.

I thought a play would be something different for him.. I seriously didn’t realize the commitment involved.

Currently we have-
LEGO Club.
Fall soccer (avg 3 games per weekend)
Cub Scouts

Coming up in addition to LEGO club and Cub Scouts-
Futsal.
Indoor soccer boarded field.
Basketball.
Outdoor soccer team training resumes in January after a December break.

I can’t say this enough.. I don’t understand how families with multiple kids manage.. I know my parents did it.. but I seriously struggle with 1!!!

LOL they say no a lot more :hilarious::hilarious:

But for real.... you go above and beyond what other parents do. A does soccer and ballet. Soccer happens at school, or it likely wouldn't happen right now. Ballet is one night a week (Tuesdays). I know eventually she'll want to do more things, but for me if it's more than two nights a week and a weekend day commitment, it feels overwhelming. I still need time to connect with her. To make crafts with her. To do chores with her. To go hiking with her. And to just snuggle on the couch watching a movie with her. I think there's a balance and that balance is different with every parent. I'll be saying no to a lot more things than you do because you and I have similar personalities but you're on a level much higher than mine. There's no right or wrong answer here. But the play I'm sure will be beneficial for him, it's just a matter of what fits into your life and schedule and what doesn't. And making him choose. This or that. This or that. You have this much time, make the choice of what to fill that time with.

Toy Story probably..

Only Pandora and Toy Story are fresh.
We only had time to book 3 parks for this November. I like the classic MK experience and the countries in Epcot's World Showcase. So MK and Epcot were chosen immediately. Having 2 chosen and needing to decide on one more park, I created a thread long ago where people brainstormed with me which "3rd park" I should select. In the end I thought Pandora in AK was more exciting than Toy Story.....so we chose AK as our 3rd park.

In MK's Tomorrowland we'll still get to do something Toy Story-ish. There is the ride with the rotating cars and you shoot your laser gun at the targets.
AK's FOP and the Navi River ride really captured my attention ;)

Oh my goodness. Today’s daily drama šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

T wanted to do the school play this year.. I signed him up without reading much info before hand.. received an email last night about the parents meeting tomorrow and clicked on the ā€œmore infoā€ link.

I had no idea that it was this much of a time commitment!!

Talked to T this morning and said, maybe we should just withdraw from the play. No, he wants to do it. January 21st- March 15th???? Come on bud, maybe next year. ā€œMom, I really want to be in a play.ā€ Ugh. I don’t know if we can add this to our plate.

School plays have changed so much since I was a kid!!!! I had no idea that this was the new norm!!

@SteveBrickNJ , aren’t you a music teacher? When I was a kid we practiced for plays during music class..I’m not sure why that has changed.
Sounds like a community theater schedule.

I appreciate the advice, I think all parents need an outside point of view sometimes.. from anyone, but especially when someone has already been thru these life stages. Thank you!
@Goofyernmost is correct of course. No one can do it all. Even a 2 parent household cannot, so don’t let T guilt you. Also remember that this all will take place during the Ohio winter. Imagine the cancel and make up days.

We want to give our kids everything, but there is a point where a parent can lose themselves in all of it. You need to think about yourself a little. You need time for you too, to just sit and just be.

Haven’t eaten at Coral Reef in over 10 years. Dh and I do not eat fish. ;) Fish are friends, not food. :hilarious: Have a great time at the party tonight. That is one we haven’t done. I am trying to figure out a way to sneak it in next year. ;)
I had a pet cow once, but, if I saw her as part of a Big Mac, I would just smile and compliment her on her deliciosity. I think she would like that. :hungry::)

Just passing through. It's insanely busy at work. We set numerous records in the last week. One day we had 600,000 euros in sales, yesterday they worked until midnight and we got almost 7000 orders done and there were still over 2000 in the system, so we started with close to 3000 this morning. For comparison, usually when I arrive at work on a Tuesday morning, the number of orders already in the system is around 200. We are supposed to get everything done that's ordered before 10:30 pm, and we work until 11 or until it's done. But our previous record was 5000 something and yesterday we did 6700, so there was just no way it was all going to get done. I've been going in 30 minutes early and staying 15 minutes late...that's the best I can do and still make it to pick up DS from school. So we're swamped and I have zero energy. It doesn't help that our pipes are apparently clogged at home, so we can't do dishes, I can't do laundry, we can't use the sink....they are coming to fix it tomorrow, but it sucks because we're pretty much out of clean dishes and no way to clean any until tomorrow between 1 and 5, after I get home from work. And we have home training for Autimaat tomorrow night, and I'm going to have to clean everything once the drainage is cleared...it's going to be a BUSY day tomorrow. Wish me luck!
