Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
Tandy's were sold by Radio Shack. I loved mine. This is what it looked like.

Ok, I do remember seeing those. And it did remind me that our Gateway was our second desktop. We had a Macintosh Apple brand before that. We held onto that computer until maybe 5 years ago. It functioned very well and they had a great deal of games they didn't want to part with after we bought the Gateway.

Unfortunately about 5 years after we bought the Macintosh, Apple went into that dark period where it was hard to find programs being developed for them so we were kinda forced to getting a new computer that also played with aol dial up better.

I remember that!!!
I may have to report you for child abuse. MJ is a MUST!!
Ha! It would have to be retroactively. My kids are long out of college now. :p

I may or may not have bout the MJ Wii game the first day it went on sale.. and I may or may not have put the glove on and danced to it continuously.. and I also may or may not have been forcing my kid to the same, since he was 2.

Yeah, MJ just gave me the Willies. o_O As a young boy he had a lovely voice but he flatout creeped me out as an adult. My kids even now have no interest in as a performer.

Our cruise was the first time that I’ve felt truly disconnected during the past 15 years. Until I opened my email... :(
I understand that is many peoples draw to cruises. Just can't be reached.
My DS doesn't look at email but because he oversees multiple departments, has many managers and supervisors under his charge along with 250-300 general employees at times things go really wrong and they want him to know before his boss is told. He asks for a text or a flat out emergency a call. So far they have been pretty good at differentiating between what they can handle, what will keep along with what is SOS worthy. Sadly his normal days off...not so much.

I know that everyone says CRT is so hard to get, but it was available during our ‘15 and ‘16 trip.
My sis just did her reservations at 60 days out.. CRT was available on the 2 days we checked, for each meal, for 4 people. The dinner was later than what she wanted, but that’s about it.
I think the “CRT is so difficult!” may be overblown.
Not that CRT is easy but I've found since BOG opened it took the pressure off CRT. Ohana my DD had to really work at. Even Homecoming in Disney Springs was hard to get in the right timeframe but she finally got it. Then came Irma and we missed our reservation because we were on Lockdown at the resort. Our first world problem. :joyfull:

I think moving the welcome show affected CRT more than BOG did because it made BOG the only PPO reservation that gave you an advantage at Mine Train

That’s really good to know!

Yep.. we won’t have any cool pool slides at our Cedar Point hotel.. which is also stupidly priced for what it is.. but at least we’ll have the beach and Lake Erie.. and the parks...and most importantly- road trip distance.
Kiddo better grow 1/2 and inch by then!

I just always read that Universal hotels are relatively inexpensive, I’ve seen people quote Hard Rock Universal prices that are nearly half the price of Hard Rock Hollywood.. thought it would be a good quick getaway.
Maybe there is a convention on that specific date?
Prices can skyrocket when those align.

I remember in february during my cochlear convention, the entire Coronado was booked.. and the price went from 150 a night to 300 a night for the last rooms.

The Edison group was meeting, 5 other companies were meeting as well as the one we were (Cochlear)

Minnie’s Holiday Dine is the only reservation that we’ve ever had trouble with. 2 consecutive years we couldn’t get it. One time slot finally opened, but it was 15 minutes before the dessert party, so obviously had to pass. Needless to say, I was able to secure it for my sister’s trip.lol. Maybe springtime is easier than Thanksgiving week or week after.

I’m sorry that Irma messed with your plans!!!

Could be.. I’ll play around with dates this week.

I'll exchange my hot weather for cold.

Starting to get hot in here. (breached 30C for the first time, thank god for the wind! )
Regarding weather in Mexico..
The first week of December would be better travel dates for me than Thanksgiving week..but I’m worried about Mexico and Belize being too cold to swim. I could barely get in the water this past Thanksgiving. But...I really want to see the ship and destinations (specifically NOLA) all dressed up for Christmas. I think I have to stick with my plans and choose warmth.

Where my DD lives, there is a new place that opened recently that has arcade games, pinball machines, skee ball, etc and a bar. It was huge. She took us out last visit. It was so much fun! Apparently, places like this are opening up all over.

That's great. Hope they open up similar venues up here. Skee Ball was my mother's favorite arcade game, at a beachside arcade area (no longer there). I'm going back many years regarding this memory.

That would be the reason why I have mixed emotions about today's technology. Back in the dark ages you could take a vacation and no one could get in touch with you unless you absolutely wanted them too. If contact was made it was you that made that happen. Even back when I owned my own business, I adjusted because I set up a time each day when I would call and find out what was going on, but, they couldn't call me.

One of my first clerical jobs was working for a manager of an accounting dept. When he went on vacation, he really got away--like northern Maine woods and northern Canada. He'd go hunting once a year, and he and his pals would pack very deep into the woods and mountains.

He told his office that he'd call in exactly once during his vacation, so they all had to be sure they had their questions ready for that one call. Anyway, he'd go to such remote areas that there was no phone service (this was well before cell phones even came out). So they used this old radio telephone (I think that's what he told me) and they'd have to hand crank it up, and it would (somehow work). I don't think it was a field radio like the Army would use years ago, but it "might" have beamed off solar? They'd have maybe 20 minutes for calls. That was all he could stand on his vacation. (I tried to find an image of it but couldn't, but I have seen pix before--it was a big tall thing, not smaller like the field radios in boxes were.)
