Been reading the discussion about parents being careful to protect their kids from unsavory types in the parks. It must be very hard to be a good parent, and I give you all credit for what you do every single day,, and the sacrifices you all make for your kids.

Just a passing thought I had here--I'm sure there are also some very nice gentlemen guests who might compliment your family--and offer it with the kindest of intentions only--and then they move on with their day. Although the protection of all children is always the number one priority, (and maybe sometimes that means an innocent, adult person's feathers may get ruffled, if they were met with a distant, protective stance from a parent)--I do hope that we don't come to an impasse in present society, where every stranger that approaches a family is to be feared (in a sense).
When we have been out with our kids, we would often get “What a lovely family”, or “What cute kids”, etc. Usually it would have come from an older couple. Never do I recall a man who looked to be in his 30’s complimenting my kids. That is just weird. And attractive is not a word most would use to compliment how a boy looks. I can see cute, adorable, handsome. But the word attractive is a word you would use when you are attracted to someone. Just my opinion. I would get grossed out and wary if a man complimented any of my kids in that way.

Me: how was your day today, bear?

A: you didn't put jelly in my sandwich and that made me sooooo sad

Me: but did you eat it

A: I was sooooooo sad. You don't want to make me happy, mommy??

Me: do you want me to put jelly in your sandwich tomorrow?

A: yes!! And then I'll be sooooo happy!!

Me: okay but did you eat your sandwich today?

A: I was too busy crying because you made me sooooo sad...

Funny, she looks happy enough 😒😒 I guess I should start saving for her therapy.....

Yah, good point. And your radar was up, because you're the parent trying to protect your child. I imagine parents have to make judgement calls on a daily basis. I'll bet intuition is 80% of the battle.

We went to a couple but they were disappointing. Like, they did dances and read books together, and my daughter annoyed the carp out of the teacher because every time she excitedly told the class what activity they were going to do, A would say in a condescending tone "we do that at school...."

I thought the class would be practicing faces and emotions and voices and whatnot. Definitely not going to wake up early on Saturdays to drive a half hour to sit in a room and listen to my kid make a teacher feel inadequate :hilarious::hilarious:

So true. The other 2 and 3 year olds were probably trying to think about whether their diapers were full, and this precocious one is questioning the audacity that her dear mother forgot the jelly. :hilarious:

She wasn't questioning at all :hilarious::hilarious: she was making sure I knew I was wrong :cautious::cautious:

And what about the aggressive, food stealing gull thugs outside the Mexican pavilion? If you sit at those little tables at the QS near the water, those gulls are not at all shy about dive bombing for your food!! :jawdrop:

I have little use for SeaGulls, they are nasty little birds, much like Crows up here. We lost almost all of our Crows to West Nile sadly they are not extinct and are making a comeback here. We also now over the last 5-10 years have freak'n SeaGulls and they don't fly south. Blame all the man made retention ponds most of which do not freeze over. Upside the SeaGulls tend to clean the parking lots of stores by attending to misplaced garbage....but then they make dooties on cars on their way out.

But I have a soft spot of ducks. Unlike geese they keep to themselves here.

Congrats!!! It is nice to have babies in the family again. Mine are pretty much all grown up now. 18, 16, 15 and one that just turned 6. She is at the height of cute and I know that I will miss having a sit on your lap grandchild in a couple of years when she grows out of it. It is a wonderful time.

I can't help but think that if I were to be bombarded by a sea gull (flying rat) attempting to steal my lunch any picture taken would include a dead bird on the ground with an oddly shaped neck.:(
