Olaf is the only snow I like because he keeps it to himself

But your image above shows he's giving everyone snow huggies!

They may have fallen from the branches but, they aren't necessarily dead. They are cold blooded animals so in the cold weather they "hibernate" at a very low body temperature. That's how all cold blooded animals survive. If it didn't work that way you would never see a snake in the north. The temperature didn't really get below freezing in Florida, just quite cold. It would have to freeze outside for them to actually freeze to death. Now they might chilly to death, but, I doubt it.:):D:cold:

According to my weather app it did freeze overnight in Florida for a few nights so the iguanas could be dead. I like your explanation better so here's hoping that they are just hibernating.

This isn't normal for us. Our normal lows are in the 20s, not the single digits. We're not hitting the records, but we're getting pretty darned close. This is Maryland, not Vermont. We're supposed to be in the 30s and 40s. Single digits have happened, but staying this cold for this long has not. At least not in my lifetime, and my young memory is working just fine. ;)
I never said anything about your "young memory", I was talking historically. I wouldn't expect you to know what winters were like in the 60's, but, I lived them. My point was that nothing is really new. At some point this happened before. Maybe not as severe or often, but, rest assured it has occurred. Just because there doesn't seem to be a record of it, doesn't mean it didn't happen. Many things occurred before anyone thought it was necessary to write it down. Not sure why we feel that way now. Would it be less cold if we did or didn't know it happened in the past.

I have memories of snow banks reaching roof gables. I can factor in that we didn't have the need or desire or the equipment for snow removal at the time. I started noticing the "climate change" in the 80's. I went on a road trip in 1980 and that marked the first major snow storm to happen in the lower states and no one had ever experienced it before. It was mayham, no equipment at all and snow like no one had ever seen before. Now they have equipment and along with it the need to use it.

I made the statement back then that someday people would be going north for the winter instead of south. That thought still sticks with me and the events of the past few winters and especially this year so far, it seems to be slowly happening. None of us will live to see it, but, I really believe it will happen. Anyway in my lifetime the winters have been getting milder and milder. A short term event like we are living through now, has no significant meaning until it becomes the norm. That takes way more then one seasonal cold spell.

I know that there have been freezing temps in Florida before. I used to go to Florida in February and had to scrape frost off my car in the morning.... running AC by the PM. It is more the extended cold that causes the problems. It used to be, like in NC, you had a cold, snow or freezing rain today and tomorrow would be in the 50's. That has changed, but, it also may just be a cycle.

Hub, Kapono, and I braved the -21 temps to go out for doughnuts this morning. A Dunkin' Donuts opened before Christmas in the town near us and we hadn't checked it out yet so today was the day. We waited until we got home to eat them, and I put my plate down with my maple glazed donut on it and half a of plain donut hole for Kapono on a table and walked back to the kitchen to get a napkin. Kapono never sneaks food off of plates we leave but today I hear hubs yell at her. She decided she had waited long enough and went to my plate and took her donut off my plate and totally left mine alone. I was a little mad but we both found it funny! Especially since she could have stolen the big donut since they were right next each other but went for what she knew was hers. :)
