So I decided to be kind of bold and texted my boss last night to tell her I wouldn't be in to work till 11am today. I didn't ask, just told her. After that I turned off my phone and went to bed. Slept in this morning till 7.30, I picked up my new shoes and went food shopping.
I hadn't had breakfast yet and when I got to Aldi I proved why it isn't a good idea to shop when you are hungry.

No, I have to work through the 20th but then I have off for awhile. I have to decide if I want to come back to Switzerland in February or look for something in London.

I'm so happy you got it to work! My brother in Australia was the first to get WhatsApp and now the whole family has it. We have 2 family groups going, one with our mother included and one that is just us siblings. Smartphones have made keeping in touch so much easier and even though we live far apart we still know what is going on in each other's lives.
I hope it will improve your relationship with your brother as well. Have you been to Australia?
I have never been to Australia. Airline tickets to there for 6 people is like $12000. So unless @figmentfan423 wins the lottery and sends me some money, I don't see traveling there in the foreseeable future.

Part 6!!!

After leaving the exhacienda. We went to a small group of houses nearby that sell homemade rompope and cajeta ( Think of it as sweets and traditional drinks and candy).

We purchased a few packages.. they were delicious. It was a looong time since I tasted stuff that good.

My mother and Sister also purchased their respective products and we went towards the small miner town nearby which was the 1st "Pueblo Magico" of the entire Mexico (magic town, as in full of culture).

This town has also very old churches, roads, etc..

View attachment 247953

Unfortunately, there was nothing much to do. As it was not weekend. During the weekends the town goes full of life. With shows, markets, etc..

This church is very special, Supposedly it had relics sent by Pope Jean Paul II. And also a ton of very different pictures and paintings of different styles on each side.

Interesting bit is, almost all these churches in the area had a nearby capilla connected by a small door (seen in this photo above).

After lingering a bit, we left the town towards a nearby mine which was still maintained as a guided tour with former retired miners as guides.

These mines produced hundread of tons of silver and gold (mostly silver). Which was sent first to the Spanish, then to the English corporations and finally Mexican companies before it was closed down as their ore was not worth exploiting anymore.
Most of these mines are already flooded in its lowest levels. So reactivating them would mean a huge cost in draining and repairing all the equipment involved.

These are the main tower crane which lowered the miners to the below tunnels. See the mountain on the background? that was extensively mined and a lot of the mine shafts and tunnels go deep into it.

There were a few engines, systems and machines in display, showing the evolution of machinery and the advancement of technology as time went by.
From the older systems of using a simple pike and shovel. To advanced pneumatic and electrical bore tools and the usage of explosives.

Note that there is a cost for entering (maintenance and guide pay, plus tips). Also there is an additional charge for photography and video.
Which isn't expensive anyway ( around 2 USD) so it was worth paying it.

After checking the nearby areas, we meet the guide that was going to explain all the stuff to us. He did show some of the machinery, the meaning of the warnings, the sound system, the hours , syndicates and general history.

That is beautiful. It is nice that it is warm enough to walk in. Hershey has a drive through light display. It would be much nicer to walk it though. but it is too cold here. There is such a nice variety of food in Austin. Seems like a great place to live.:)

Have a fun trip! You'll be missed, but we'll be waiting with baited breath to see the photos when you get back. Hoping there is no snow in Galveston. I saw on the weather channel that Corpus Christi had snow. Just insane!
I have enjoyed the quality time with her, even when she gets snot all over my clothes :happy:
I didn't have a snot free shirt for over a decade. 4 kids in 9 years. I thought I was safe until last week. When I was out with youngest dd, she had a slight runny nose. No tissues of course on me. So what do I do? Back of my sleeve to wipe it.

It is so expensive! My brother, wife and 3 kids are flying to the Netherlands tomorrow for the Christmas holiday. This is the first and probably last time that we can do this. My whole family chipped in to pay for the flights and accommodation for them. It will go down in family history as the most expensive Christmas EVER.

Should I be proud that I didn't have to Google it or sad that I understand the reference so I didn't have to?;)
I also did not need to Google, I am sure it means we have broad general knowledge.:p

I have no idea what that means but I hope it went well!:)
Oh, simply testing the computer parts to behave in the way they should.

Means that it should be stable during operational conditions.

Bad hardware usually is unstable and will throw errors (hang or freeze too) when using the computer at 100% its rated power for a few hours during normal advertised conditions.

So if your cpu is 3.6Ghz and you have 16Gb of Ram, it should work all the time using these specs and using all the capacity.

Thank you for taking the time to explain that to me. Clearly you know your computers.:)
