If you ate ramen for every meal, it would only cost you $142.65 a year.

Disney technology workers lose jobs in restructuring, headline in the Orlando Sentinel. Disney won't say how many.
Wonder if this is a fall out over MyDisneyExperience-FP+/WiFi Problems?

And as a buffer Disney also announced they distributed 10 million Magic Bands.

That was interesting, and I hadn't heard anything about it. What surprises me is that whomever is hired to work with the First Lady on foreign visits, did not appear to do appropriate research on clothing customs for women. That's a big faux pas.

I'm not sure I agree with that. I think Saudi wanting to be inclusive in the World Power Countries needs to revisit women in the World they want to be a part of. My DD dorm, being an all girls dorm was not good enough for the Saudi woman. They had one section of one floor walled off with an additional door Stating No Men Beyond This Point. My DD said it was a pain to always find Female personnel for all the maintenance that needed to be accomplished in the 100 year old building, let alone the subcontractors with female only staff. When those girls went to swim in the one of three pools, it was required all staff be female. So that meant Supervising Staff, Pool Manager, Life Guards, Custodial. Then the fights over what is Board of Health acceptable clothing to wear in a freak'n pool so they don't drown.

And as I pick on their treatment of women, I admire the First Ladies not so subtle stand on offering her hand to greet a dignitary and willing to be rejected only because she is a mere woman. It brings awareness. It all starts there. But it isn't long ago we were the same way in some respects. I as a Catholic School Girl had to cover my head going into mass, cover my hands with white little gloves. My Nun had a long dress down to her ankles, she had a black cloth veil covering all her hair and a white corset that only her face peaked out. Hands covered for mass also.
So really go back 40 years or so and our Nuns were in the same place as the Saudi women. As I was a Catholic girl I too was taught I needed to be covered, even my uniform came with a little beanie. So really we progressed over a half century so Saudi isn't really that far behind leaping into the 21st century.

I understand what you're saying, and appreciate your comments on this. Although everything you said is basically true, (about how men and women should always have the same status--and for the moment, I'm focusing on the First Lady's visit only), observing the customs of the host country, for leaders/presidents, etc. (and their spouses) is diplomatic courtesy. Cultural roots go deep, and sometimes something as simple as extending a warm handshake can be viewed as a direct insult. With so much at stake in this volatile world we live in now, I think world leaders are walking on eggshells as it is, just to maintain a modicum of peace.

There may be a time and a place for addressing certain issues (status of women in certain countries), but change comes slowly (if at all), and I would not be in favor of broaching the issue, upon the initial greeting in the host country. I think that any positive change may better be accomplished via another approach (perhaps via U.N. human rights initiatives, as just one example). Then, hopefully, the issue may (eventually) be added to the official agenda for discussion at a host country.

As for the nuns, thank goodness they don't have to wear those habits anymore!! We used to call the nuns "penguins" because that's what the kids thought of with their black and while outfits! :p

Maybe fellow people who regular have snow can back me up

I would love for plows to learn how to plow. On the side of my road, about two feet is left between the end of the snow and the sidewalk. On the other side, about three feet. And you have to inch your way forward at the end of streets because you can't look over the snow piles.

And finally, please turn on you lights if it's raining, snowing or wicked dark even though it's daytime.

Heh, heh . . . I've also wondered what the criteria was to get hired to plow snow. o_O  I think that all you need is a pickup truck and a plow blade at the front. Since the huge storm hit this week, I've seen all kinds of "creative" snowplowing all over. In my area, it appears that the guys who drive the really big trucks for the city, are very skilled at what they do. However, it's some of the independent contractors that crack me up. Also, I think part of the issue in a multi-day huge storm like this past week, is that many of these guys charge by the hour; and they're all out there working insane hours without proper breaks, or heaven forbid, sleep!! :jawdrop:

As for your second point, I also agree, and it's a pet peeve of mine as well.
