I completely agree. Canned goods, preferably some that can be eaten without warming up, because you may need to save heating and cooling powers for a time if the power goes off. In the winter and there is a snow storm that causes the power to go out, you always have the snow and cold to help preserve your food supply, but what do you do in the summer? Water, bread if it can be somehow preserved, canned goods and things that don't need heating up like spaghetti o-s, beans, fruit, tuna fish, etc. Peanut Butter is a great protein provider. and make sure you have a manual can opener. That will not be gourmet dining, but, this is survival not a visit to Trump Tower.

Edited for an added question.... Someplace in the back of my mind, I seem to remember that there was some type of canned bread. It's a very vague memory and it might have been some type of novelty bread. Does anyone else remember anything like that?
B@M had a molasses bread in a can. It was pretty good.

I'm sorry you have had a very rough year.
That the thing though Betts, compared to a lot of people, my year has been as smooth as silk. No one told me that I had a terminal condition and to get my things in order cause you're on the way out. So, even though things like I mentioned happened (including my X's passing) my life has been solid with just a few tiny little obstacles to get over. It just seems to be more then usual and hard not to keep myself from getting sucked into self pity for no real good reason. It's like the death of all these celebrity people, they had a bad year, I just read about their misfortune.

I'm having the rooms freshly painted.

Look at how tall those trees are in 'our' backyard.
Do you suppose that Betty White still lives there?

Do you not have anyone who could help shovel you out? We don't get a lot of snow here, but when we do, I shovel my neighbor's walkway because she doesn't appear to have a shovel herself and her elderly mother walks over all the time and I'd hate for her to fall and break something. So I shovel and salt for her.
No, this city is just not friendly. No one helps each other on anything. And some neighbor's won't speak to other neighbor's because they don't like how they look. It's crazy.
