I'm in the same(ish) boat. Had 2 pulled, one above the other. Dentist wants me to get bridges. I'm not old enough to mentally handle bridges lol. Insurance will pay for bridges but not much for implants.

Doing fine without them so far, only noticeable if I smile really big, and then only barely.

But they tell me the longer you wait, the bone that supported it wears away, and you either have to pay extra for a bone graft or just can't do it, and the worn away bone starts to affect the teeth on either side of the hole.

So I have an appointment with a specialist on the 8th (?) who will examine and let me know the state of my jawbone and how much time I have left to make a decision.
If one is younger, I understand the concern, but, geez Louise, I'm 68 years old. At best, I'm maybe looking at another 20 years and I doubt that all those years are going to be highly active or social. I'm trying to decide how much movement is possible and then even what difference it will make. I can't seem to get any straight answers. Years, ago I had 4 wisdom teeth removed. They were sideways even and to my knowledge nothing changed at all with them missing.

We desperately need it on our western fronts in the south. Presently we are taking BBQ to extremes in these parts. I'm OK with Colorado not having rain, just be sure and send it directly east.
We are getting a little snow tonight. Nothing to help the drought. I just hope you guys don't burn down. Who is setting these fires. I say burn 'em at the stake, if it's good enough for Joan of Ark it's good enough for them!

I know what you mean. Yesterday I went to my dentist because I had this small growth on my gum. It was directly below a tooth that I had capped around 7 years ago. Just a short history, I have never had tooth problems, not even cavities, but years ago I bit into a McDonalds Qtr. Pounder and came in contact with a small brass bolt. This, of course, was way before we were all sue happy. I showed it to the manager, he shrugged his shoulders and walked away. So did I. I few days later I went to my dentist because it was very cold sensitive. They used some resin type stuff that was cured by ultra violet light. Believe it or not that lasted for over 20 year, then I bought a bubble gum ball on a whim, bit into it and cracked the tooth again.

All that for this... I had it repaired and a crown put on. It never has felt right, but, never really a problem. Then this little "bump" showed up. I didn't really react to it for around 5 months then last week when I had a physical I had my doctor look at it and she recommended that I go to my dentist. I did.. they figured out that I had an abscess under the tooth and that I needed one of two things. A root canal or extraction. They pushed hard for the root canal because getting an appliance to fill in the missing space would end up casting me as much anyway. (btw... $1250.00 for the root canal) I have no dental insurance since I retired. When I suggested that they just pull it out ($300.00) you would have thought that I had kidnapped their grandmother. Oh, you can't do that. I look around and see many people that just had teeth pulled out with no obvious problem. It is a molar in the back of my mouth (next to last) it doesn't show unless I am yelling at someone. Anyway, it's a $900.00 difference in price. So if anyone has any stories. Even nightmare types about either procedure, please share them. I really am getting tired of throwing good money after bad. Dental things is an area where I have had almost no experience except cleaning and that crown. Yes, I do consider that a blessing.
I have so many problems with dentist's I can't count. There doesn't seem to be an oversight for dentist's at all. I got a tooth pulled and a crown with no pain medication, he was an Army dentist. I guess he thought we were all military. To say it hurt is saying this mildly.

Yes, I was told the same about possibly needing a bone graft, which I'm sure would be the case now since it's been several years for me. But since it's not really noticeable and my teeth haven't shifted, I think I may be good for the long haul. :D (<---see what I did there? :hilarious:)

My parent's didn't do dentistry, until something horrible popped up. They had false teeth. First time I went to the dentist was when I was going to college. It was required back in the day. Damage was already done, I have all of my back teeth, into crowns. We didn't have fluoride in our well water. My teeth looked good, but was very decayed on the inside. I got to live through so many fillings, then on to crowns. Now after 10 years, they all need replaced. This will cost into the thousands of dollars....around 27,000$. How are retired people supposed to come up with that kind of money? Hubby's last crown cost 5,000$. For one crown. I have many in the back of my mouth. This dental system is crazy. I guess at some point we will all have false teeth. Can't afford anything else. By the way, our first house only cost 23,000$. Crazy times we live in.

Agree. And you have to look at when in history things were written. Not unusual for many children to die from birth or before adult age. Same with the Mom's giving birth, often both would die. A flock needed to man the fields etc.

Now the earth is pretty dang full. If everyone went with the go forth and multiply yikes what a world we would have. Can you imagine if everyone had 12 children like my Gran did?
Mine had 6 kids.

No no, send it west! :D
Yes, we are in a moderate drought. We depend on snow pack for drinking water. I see water rationing coming for the summer. We are required to have plantings and a tree or two in front of our houses. If they die due to lack of water we need to spend hundreds to take out dead trees and replant. It's a crazy system. I'm thinking of moving to a place with no regulations. These HOA'S can cost a lot of money. Our tree out front has been replaced three times. Why do we need to live in such a crazy world?

My DD just used her standard resume. She got through round one, round two was two days (and that would not be the last) was set for 36 hours later-a group candidate interviews. She asked if she could skype of phone interview and they said No. She declined the 2nd interview.

I've stayed at both POR and the Coronado. Coronado has the better pool, POR is a more walkable resort. It was designed better with lots of bridges over the water. I also prefer the food at POR QS over Coronado though CS does have an interesting QS and it does appeal to many. I'm not a fan of either of two Table Service places-more meh-not bad.

I've stayed at POR more times than I can count, since 1992. It is my favorite resort. I was there the slowest week of the fall and I have to say the bus service was the worst I've ever experienced there. Day and Night we combo'd with the French Quarter to go to the parks. Coming back at night we often took the FQ bus and walked back to Riverside. We were the main lobby bus stop which is now the last bus stop and the buses often skipped us 'cause they were full in the mornings. We eventually learned to get on at Bus #2 stop (of 4) though at times the wait was still long. The queues at the parks to return to the resorts couldn't fit the amount of guests waiting to return (why we went to FQ) We did Uber several times with real good results out of POR. $6 from POR to the POLY, $5 to Epcot. I will not let the bus thing sway me from returning to POR again but I will keep in mind $$$ for Uber. Beyond the horrid bus service this time I have to say POR is a lovely resort and my advice is the Mansions. There furniture alone is better as is the room set up.
They are cutting back on bus service. We could always board a bus from Saratoga to DS, now we have to walk to Congress park. I'm so sick of the cuts. I'm thinking of selling the timeshare to fix my teeth.

I didn't like any of the food at CS, nor the dining CMs. Flip though the balance of their CMs were excellent.

??? Does CS still do that 10% upcharge for a gratuity in their QS venue?
I'll page @Buzz2001 He is my go to guy for CS when we stay there, he has a wondrous website about CS also. @JenniferS loves CS so she can also give you some advice on the plus side of that resort.
We stayed there once, it was nice and quiet. But I was disturbed by the alligator sunning between the buildings, every day.

Lysol and bleach is out my dh has something, mostly in the tummy and nose:hungover::hungover::hungover::hungover: He couldn't have waited a day:cautious: because I had plans but won't be going near anybody just in case. No need to spread the wealth so to speak. He called in and left a message at least when he got a call back to confirm the person on the phone was very polite and nice:joyfull: We've known the person for at least 10 years and it's still mam and sir:joyfull:

Yep, definitely something going around. I started with a sore throat Monday night and it's turned into congestion and some coughing. I'm really hoping it doesn't get worse!

So my friend is in this relationship that has gone sour but they have a house together. He wants to leave but because of his job, he doesn't have enough money. And it sucks that I can't do anything because his job in on the Cape and I live in RI.
So sorry. I hope your son and friend can resolve this so that no one loses money. Or they share any loss. I have heard property values have gone up. Not so much in my area. I hope they have for your son. Or, the other party will buy him out for today's market value.

I think most HOA's are usually counterintuitive. Plus I always wondered what are you really paying for? :cautious:

As someone going through a contentious divorce, I can totally empathize with your friend. Hopefully they can at least be amicable to each other and there's enough room in the house to maintain separation until he's able to leave. Until then, the best thing you can do is lend an ear to him when he needs one. I'm so grateful I had my friend who's also getting a divorce, as well as this forum, to provide support when I needed it. I don't know what I would have done without you guys! :inlove:
Our heart's hurt for what you have gone through. Sometimes I felt like slugging your, soon to be ex in his awful mouth. My best for you in the future.

Awww Betty, you always know what to say to make me feel better! :joyfull: Believe me, I have felt like that a lot in the last 18 months. But I have to say the anger has decreased a lot because I'm realizing nothing I do is going to change him, so it's really wasted energy. I'd rather focus more on moving forward, my DD, my still-sorta-new beau, and my friends, which of course includes you guys.
