I can remember my son being so upset that my Dad told him this might be Papa's last Christmas. My son was 2. My son was well into his 20's when Papa passed. My Dad was dying from the time he was a toddler, through childhood, teens, college, career. It depends on the individual, if they want to focus on death or living.

I hope the next life is better for him.

I hope all of you are having a great weekend! Me not so much. It's been a mix of fun farm market time and hard work. trying to get all the items to fix our water issue on a holiday weekend wasn't fun! The local plumbing supply place had the pump we needed in stock and that was easy but they didn't have the pull rope or wire that needs replacing. We got the pump pulled out finally after a lot of pulling. . If that sucker ever needs replacing I'm paying somebody to do it! Once it was out the pull line and wiring looked pretty bad so we decided better safe than sorry and decided to also replace them as well. So off to a big box store to get both (who ever thought going to one of those could be considered a break) of course the first store only had the rope Any way we stopped at home and fed the boys before heading off in the opposite direction to get wire. Of course having to make extra stops means we lost daylight. Everything is laid out and ready to put together with any luck water will be running before noon. Guess who has sangria put together and in the fridge to go with dinner tonight. At least our friend who considered coming up here isn't going to get hit hard enough to need to come up.

I hope you get it together, before Monday. You need a relaxing day.

Me too. Dad had some wonderful attributes and then some not so good ones but he was a man of deep faith. He was well into his 40's by the time he hung up the his Rosary but the faith never waivered.

Thanks. As of the 6 AM forecast for Boston and the Cape, we might have some 30-50 mph winds later today/tonight and tomorrow with hit or miss rain--but they don't expect much more than 1" of rain. They keep updating the reports, so this may also change. It does appear as though it's lost a lot of it's punch at this point.

I hate kale, but I don't like anything bitter. That's the same for mustard greens. Yuck!

Yep, there is nothing I like about kale but I grow it. Very Pretty. Makes for nice landscaping.

So many more awesome veggies I'd rather eat.

Nothing happened or is about to happen to my knowledge. I was referring to the threat of rising global temperatures caused by normal planetary climate changes. That area of Florida was once under a lot of water, and it may at some point reclaim itself as part of the ocean. Don't cancel any short range plans to go there. Anything over 200 years you may want to think about.

I don't think, I'll live that long!

No, thanks for asking, but, everyone has down times now and then. I just happened to be in one of those lower ends of the loop and philosophizing in a more negative way at the time.

I do that too. It's being called human. I find chocolate helps a lot!

I can get it year round but it's in season from fall through early about Thanksgiving

I found a new pasta that has 17 grams of protein, it has flax seed, lentils, among other things. I fall short of protein every day. I'm eating the pasta, as I'm not a big meat eater.

I spent five hours this morning, cooking and planning the meals for the day. Today was not so much fun.

Great thinking! It sounds like you don't want to repeat this for many more years.

It sounds like you East Coasters are staying safe from this storm. That's a relief! My dad lives in Florida (central) and he said that he got about 6 inches of rain but didn't have any damage. So relief all around.

It IS a lot of pressure, especially at an elementary school age. I can't even imagine having to make that kind of choice when I was her age. And we can't make the choice FOR her...it's GOT to be what SHE wants and is comfortable with. We can give her the information, we can take her to the open houses for all the schools and ask questions, and help her make pro-con lists, but the choice eventually comes down to her. She would benefit from the classes the one school has for the fear of failure/test anxiety.

I hope she is happy with her choice.

That would scare you to death. DD had her car stuck by lightening this summer, and knocked out all her power. Freaked her out.

Oh good lord . . . (Just curious--is there is any sort of liability to WDW if a misfired firework hits and damages a car? Might be difficult to prove, if so.) What a crazy thing to happen.

I've been wanting to do something different with our livingroom, so I decided to replace the long red drapes on the 2 windows, with sort of a linen/light beige set of drapes. That's a significant change. Put them up about 6 hours ago. Do you think hubby has noticed yet? Heck no--he's walked past the livingroom 2-3 times and not batted an eyelash. (He's now down there on the sofa watching tv . . . hasn't noticed a thing . . . crickets . . .)
