Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
exactly, plus a few accidents (car) that could have killed my entire family and we by miracle.. didnt got us.
so yeah, id say I have more than three times said to death "NOT TODAY".

anyway, speaking of royal caribbean.. how the hell do I know which main restaurant im assigned to? I can no longer access my reservation information nor my planner.. ***..
and the tv screen doesnt show any resertvation, only a single main restaurant of the 3.

Hmpf. That is disconcerting. I'm so excited for you. You need a nice relaxing vacation.

That sounds frustrating. I hope you get that all fixed up. How did your farm market adventure go yesterday?
Thank you! I really like the bigger farm market because there's so much more selection and the farmers have larger quantities of what they do have! I just wish it was more convenient to get to. I got a couple of pounds of okra(not something normally founds at my regular place), eggplant(cheaper at the bigger one), heirloom tomatoes, pears, poblano peppers(again not an usual item), green beans and a few other items. I made to my regular place yesterday and got my eggs and the rest of the veggies for the week

@FutureCEO , I have the Reese's donut review for you. Grabbed one yesterday at Dunkies on my way into work. Surprisingly, I gave it a 75%, not 100. The odd reason is that I decided I didn't "love" peanut butter cream filling in a sweet donut with the chocolate glaze on the top. It was almost like the peanut butter filling wasn't sweet enough (for me), as it was more peanut tasting. Just thought it detracted from what could have been an awesome combination.
That's something I thought DD would get right. I may try and make something like that for my older ds birthday because he he loves chocolate and peanut butter. He even has a Reece'e shirt from Hershey I wish he'd finally get rid of

Time out with the kiddos and SonIL was great! :)
We ate at a place downtown called True Food Kitchen, on the site of our old repurposed Seaholm Power Plant...

I had the grass-fed beef burger with umami mushroom, caramelized onion, arugula, parmesan, and mayo on a flax seed bun (medium rare, of course ;)). It came with a warm kale salad and sweet potato side.
I could have had one or the other, but, decided to try both at the suggestion of our waitress.
I'm not normally a fan of sweet potatoes (as y'all know, one of very few foods ;)), but, this was very good. The sweet potatoes were crisp and there were caramelized onions in the dish to offset the sweetness a bit. I don't even remember if I've had kale before, but, it was delicious...I killed the whole plate...! :hungry:
DWifey had same, but, of course, had them kill the beef to death! :D ;)
Unfortunately, she didn't like the sides as much as I did, but, I now have a snack for tomorrow. :hungry:

DS had a chicken curry dish that was awesome and wonderfully spicy...he shared some of it with me and we were both sweating...! :hilarious:
There was also a shredded chicken lemon soup that we ordered a coupla' bowls of and passed around. It was really good, too! :hungry:
Great meal, we'll be back! :)

Here's my burger and sides...and a portion of the glass of my local microbrew IPA...! ;)

That place looks wonderful and do I see coconut on the kale?

I never watched the Johnny Depp version either. It seemed a little wacked out with what I saw in the previews. Sorry I can't help you out but it is an interesting question. Maybe someone else has seen both and read the books.
See, now I need to add the book to my "to read" list. I've seen both movies, but haven't read the book. Actually, my kids just watched the original movie in Florida while we were staying with my friend. I couldn't find it over here, so her husband was flabbergasted and went and bought a copy just so my kids could see it. That and the Wizard of Oz. I figured they would be on Netflix, but if they are, they aren't on the Dutch one.

Very interesting, busy, full day at work today. I got to the office (we have two; I normally work out of the one closer to home, but they asked me to go to the other one just for today. I got there, and there was a new manager there. I ended the internship about a month ago, so I was rather surprised there was someone new in the office. Apparently he was hired right after I left. I asked him if the manager who hired and trained me over the summer was going to be in the office. He awkwardly said, "Um, she no longer works here." In between me going to work on Wednesday and coming to work today, they fired her. So I basically was hired as a partial replacement.

Rather shocking. In this industry, people don't usually get fired. Sales associates decide they aren't making enough and leave, or they may move to a different office. Interns come and go. This doesn't happen very much. It's really shaken the office. But then as I've gotten into the work more, especially recruiting interns, I realize there was a LOT that was left undone. We have unanswered applications from back in JUNE. That's just...completely unacceptable. So I've got a huge mess to clean up on the recruiting end and almost wish I had to go in Monday so I could continue cleaning up the mess. My boss also made a rather, er, not good recruiting decision yesterday that majorly backfired. I was in the office from 8:30-4:30 and didn't take more than a five minute break to go to the bathroom. Not even lunch. I came home and had a glass of wine.
That doesn't sound great. I hope your job is secure!!

I hope all of you are having a great weekend! Me not so much. It's been a mix of fun farm market time and hard work. trying to get all the items to fix our water issue on a holiday weekend wasn't fun! The local plumbing supply place had the pump we needed in stock and that was easy but they didn't have the pull rope or wire that needs replacing. We got the pump pulled out finally after a lot of pulling. . If that sucker ever needs replacing I'm paying somebody to do it! Once it was out the pull line and wiring looked pretty bad so we decided better safe than sorry and decided to also replace them as well. So off to a big box store to get both (who ever thought going to one of those could be considered a break:hilarious:) of course the first store only had the rope:mad::bawling::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead: Any way we stopped at home and fed the boys before heading off in the opposite direction to get wire. Of course having to make extra stops means we lost daylight. Everything is laid out and ready to put together with any luck water will be running before noon. Guess who has sangria put together and in the fridge to go with dinner tonight. At least our friend who considered coming up here isn't going to get hit hard enough to need to come up.

You more than anyone know my long decades of stories of my Dad. He retired early at 62 because he feared he'd die. He did have some health issues here an there and a pain in the butt, gloom and doom but he lived to 87 always talking of the time that was a coming. I find it sad that he spent so much time thinking of death. 62 - 87 is a great span to have been gloomy. A waste.
That's so sad! My dad is 83 and says he thinks he might not make it more than 10 or 15 more years. :D I already think 83 is doing pretty darn well...another 10 to 15 years, he certainly can't complain. I hope he does make it that long!!

Yay for veggies! Do you know when Spaghetti Squash is in season? I have yet to find it hear, even at the market, but maybe I've just not been looking in the right season?

Yikes!! That sounds less than fun! I hate it when what is supposed to be a simple repair turns into a major affair. I hope you get it all fixed up. And it sounds like you aren't expected to get hit by Hermine? That's good news!

I spent all day yesterday researching secondary schools. YIKES, there is a lot to learn. On the one hand, I know the Dutch school system is one of the best in the world. On the other, I kind of miss the "You live here, this is where you go to school." I did learn a lot yesterday, though, and it really was fascinating. Poor DD...she hates making decisions and is completely overwhelmed just talking about it. We've got a year and a half before she actually has to make a choice, but she's freaking out about it already. She burst into tears and went running off to her room and wouldn't let me come in to talk to her. I think we're going to have to take a frog-boiling approach!!

Oh dear, this isn't what I expected at all from when you first mentioned the pump yesterday. So sorry this turned out to be such a crazy ordeal. I hate stuff like that--extra unexpected steps involved--and then you end up traipsing all over to different stores for a piece here, a piece there . .. UGH. I hope that it gets all put together today without any further "surprises" thrown in your direction. Fingers crossed.

@MinnieM123 be safe. I hope the storm heads out to sea before getting up your way!

Thanks. As of the 6 AM forecast for Boston and the Cape, we might have some 30-50 mph winds later today/tonight and tomorrow with hit or miss rain--but they don't expect much more than 1" of rain. They keep updating the reports, so this may also change. It does appear as though it's lost a lot of it's punch at this point.
