I teach in High School where many of the students have there own cars on the campus. We must take attendance each class to make sure some of the Seniors don't skip out during lunch period and decide to never return. This has happened a few times and needed to be reported and addressed with the students and their parents. You are correct once they are in school they should remain on the campus property, but it is hard to stop if a student has their own car on campus unless the school starts taking the students car keys away at the beginning of the day which isn't going to happen.I know your a teacher but some (actually most) schools have gotten really crazy the past decade or so. I'm not talking about attendance because once in school, you should stay in school. But schools acting like they're parents, school state testing which is really stupid. Of course parents don't help either.
Now that you mention it, I'd better check my dryer...I don't remember hitting start.I just sat down on the porch to drink my coffee and chat on here before I started my cleaning. Then I realized I didn't start the clothes dryer, I put clothes in but didn't press start. So I guess I'd better get up and do that, and since I'm up I might as well get the cleaning over with.Later!

Oh nooooo. That is not good. Now that you mention it, I'd better check my dryer...I don't remember hitting start.
It was fine...I must have been on autopilot because it was running. But I've done that many times before...put clothes in and forget to hit start.Oh nooooo. That is not good.
We miss you, too, Figgy! Interesting that the boys liked Uni better--I've heard similar comments from people with boys in that age group. Could Disney be slipping away for these kids?
Oh I've been down that rode many times. It was fine...I must have been on autopilot because it was running. But I've done that many times before...put clothes in and forget to hit start.
Disney is my #1 by far and will always be. No matter if the attractions are older and not as wild as the Uni rides. Disney for me is much more than that. It is the entire package. Seeing the characters in person I so love on the screen in the movies, having a Mickey Ice Cream Bar, listening to the park music as I stroll around looking at the smiling faces. That is just a few of the things that will keep me coming back to Disney. Now I do like Harry Potter so I did have to visit Uni for 1 day and see that park and it was stunning. Do I have to go back? No, unless they add something really new to it. Uni just does not have the same atmosphere as Disney where it will attract me day in and day out.
I look at @figmentfan423 comment about kids liking Uni better and yours about slipping away slightly differently.
Early on Uni wasn't very appealing to Disney fans, many went once and others hated the Uni Parks without ever stepping foot in the competitions parks. My kids never had the opportunity to like Uni better, we arrived in the Disney Bubble and stayed put. It has become difficult for most to rag on the Uni parks now. Some of their attractions are awesome and they have the ability to build quickly which keeps drawing guests back.
While the new Fantasyland is beautiful the new attractions are hardly a GRAB for preteens and teens. Even Dwarf while creative with the true Disney flair it is short, kinda tame and difficult to get on with FPs and standby waits. So my take is more the kids are just lately being exposed to an alternative theme park experience that prior their parents would never consider allowing (like with my Kids they were brought up Disney.) If it wasn't for my School Board convention a decade ago who knows when we would have left the Bubble.
Congrats! I still have a long way to go...over 100 pages. You all are prolific posters, I'll tell ya that! And now that is what ketchup looks like:

Ta-da! All caught up! (For now).
We had free dining plan on our trip, and that's the ONLY reason we did 4 character meals. Otherwise, we wouldn't have done that! The prices are insane!I wish that we could have done more character meals on our vacation, but the prices are just through the roof. So except for two character/special/birthday meals, we are just winging it the rest of the time. Gives me/us a chance to eat at some Quick Service places that I have not done before. Also, maybe I will finally get over to AOA, and eat in their food court. This will be my 4th time staying at Pop. The 1st time AOA wasn't there, but the last two times, I visited AOA, but I did not eat there. I want to do that on this trip. Our trip is not overplayed, so we should have a lot of opportunities to do that.
Last week I washed a load of clothes and forgot the soap.I just sat down on the porch to drink my coffee and chat on here before I started my cleaning. Then I realized I didn't start the clothes dryer, I put clothes in but didn't press start. So I guess I'd better get up and do that, and since I'm up I might as well get the cleaning over with.Later!

I eat my fries either plain, or with peanut sauce.I like mayo.![]()
It's not just boys, my daughter likes Uni too.We miss you, too, Figgy! Interesting that the boys liked Uni better--I've heard similar comments from people with boys in that age group. Could Disney be slipping away for these kids?
Plain with just a smidge of salt for me.I eat my fries either plain, or with peanut sauce.
I'm assuming you have My Disney Experience since you said you have a fastpass....that gives you a countdown when you log in, too. That's what I used to tell me how many days I had before my vacation.i can never get those vacation countdown things to work. I gave up on that years ago. My calendar at home has the amount of days left, written in. Today, I am 32 days away.
I don't normally ride coasters, but I do have a Fastpass for the dwarf faster at the Magic Kingdom. I rode it once two years ago in August. The seats are a little tight for my size. Wishing I was a skinny 12 year old again, when I ride that ride. The problem with that ride is it's over too soon. Although it is nice when it slows down inside the diamond mine.
School supply shopping! I should add that to my list of things I forgot about the US. Over here, everything is supplied. You don't have to buy ANYTHING...at least in elementary school. The only thing is PE clothes/shoes. We flew out 2 days after school got out and arrived in the US to "back to school" supplies. WHAT?? We just got OUT of school. And wow....soooooo many notebooks and folders and pens and pencils and crayons and...just..so much stuff! I forgot about that madness! We got ours a few weeks ago. Let's see school is going to start early this year so we get home unpack, sleep for a bit and off they go!![]()
you know, speaking of pokemon go.I don't ever remember a teacher who DIDN'T take attendance every single time. Ever. But then, I never skipped class, so it didn't matter.
Yeah, my son in particular was nervous about English. For the first few days he didn't really say much and asked us to order for him in restaurants and such. But I got it pretty quickly and then he talked EVERYONE's ear off. Especially in Disney...oh my gosh, the boy was a motormouth. We'd get on a bus and he would talk to whomever was next to us. His favorite topic was Pokemon Go. Our phones aren't compatible with the app, but they played it at my cousin's house and for the rest of the trip, it was Pokemon this and Pokemon that, and if someone had their phones out playing, he was going to talk to them about who they had already caught, who they still needed, where the closest gym was, etc.
So...do people just not know some of these bathrooms exist? Or is it that they are spending all their time at attractions that are not near those bathrooms? I was so surprised to find nearly deserted ones where there wasn't a line. I also found favorite drinking fountains because most of the drinking fountains were not cold water and these were.
