Well, DL is getting MSE (according to the homepage). So WDW could likely get Paint the Night.

I'm happy Main Street Electrical parade is leaving but Paint the Night (admittedly catchy song)

My dad has already told us if something happens to him, small memorial service and take the money and go to WDW.

I agree. Actually, I've told my family I want the absolute cheapest way out--direct cremation--no funeral home visitation, no grave. A religious service can be done later, separately, at their convenience. I told them they should keep the extra money that would have been spent on a traditional funeral, or they could donate it to a charity of their choice.

In my insanity, I thought this would be a nice, magical show to take my mind off of the death and depression of Tragic Kitty Weekend:

You probably should have gone with a Disney musical, there is usually one nowadays on Broadway isn't there?

No, they work. My brother left his iPod in his pocket and set it off.

And I set it off today. Why? Underwire bra.

I have two identical pairs of shorts that I bought from Macy's, same brand, same color, and they have some zippers on the leg with some pockets.....I bought them about 2 months apart. Well, in Disneyland one pair set off the metal detector every time (and at the airport too), the other pair did not. I couldn't figure it out. I was going to mark the pair that set off the metal detector so I knew but I forgot. I guess if I go through a detector again wearing them I'll find out. In regards to your spoiler tag, that is why when I travel I wear one that doesn't have a wire, but I never thought about it at any other spot that had detectors.

Wow. That surprises me. We have have a lovely RiverWalk and then subtrails to that. We take Walt on walks over 3 counties on RiverWalks and Bike/Horse trails. He still hasn't seen a horse, I can't imagine what he'd do, likely pee. There are so many forest preserves and many of those have bike trails too. I can start up at Woodfield Mall and take a bike trail all the way down to Brookfield Zoo. A good 30 miles.

Those trails sound great. We have some trails around here that run by a couple rivers but the closest access I have is about a 15 minute drive away. We had a church gathering on Sunday at the park by the trail and we took Kapono on it with the group. I was amazed at how well behaved she was (she is a barker) but she was a perfect angel. The trail is very pretty it connects through about 3-4 counties too. I have only walked a couple miles of it though. There is a beautiful rock wall with a spring coming out of it that is about 2 miles down from where I start, and it is fun to see it when it is colder because the water is hanging in icicles.

On our regular walking route we go out into the country a little and there is a hobby farm that has horses and cows. My dog is very interested in them. She always looks for them when we walk past. One day they weren't out and I didn't really notice as I was listening to a podcast and I noticed that Kapono was slowing down and was looking off the the side and I realized she was looking for the cows and horses. I thought it was kind of funny. If she got close to them she would probably be scared.

Whelp, my dad made it back home. I'm kind of glad it was just him. My brother has a cold, which means he's even less chatty than usual (he has language difficulties as it is). Either one of us down here by ourselves probably would have been desperate for adult conversation after a day. Plus my brother has a very short fuse.

Thank you, guy who was sitting behind us at Jungle Book, for coughing all over my brother and making him sick.

One more reason not to like the Jungle Book show. (kidding) Seriously though, I feel bad for your brother it is no fun to be sick on vacation. In June hubby went on a church mission trip and came back with a cold, we left for WDW about 4 days later and that is when I developed the cold. It was no fun to have a stuffy nose and scratchy throat in the heat, and I wanted to be happy and healthy so I could enjoy my happy place but all I really wanted to do was sleep. Luckily it was a quick cold, I hope your brother's goes away fast and stays away from you and the rest of your family.

When I go I want my family to take the cheapest route as well. I told Brad I don't even want a funeral, but he says he will have one anyway. So I said that is fine but if there is a meal then everyone should have beer and spaghetti to honor me. But really I could care less, cremate me and scatter my ashes (maybe at Disney, like 7 Seas Lagoon or something).

I like your charity idea. When my mom passed we had a private family ceremony. Her ashes were interned at a Veteran's Cemetary (my Dad was in the Army), and we knew we didn't want people sending flowers for that. So when in her obituary (and when people asked) we told people to donate to either St. Judes or the Shiners Hospital as those were her favorite charities. If people sent us the money we donated it to those places as well. I think the charity donation is much better than a plant or flowers.

I don't mind that Main Street Electrical Parade is leaving at all. I liked it (and still think it is okay) but when I saw Paint the Night at Disneyland I was blown away by how great it was. It was bright, floats were technically advanced, and the song was great. It just makes the MSEP look old and made me realize how past its prime it is.

Even with how much I love Paint the Night, I really didn't want it to come to WDW. I would love for WDW to develop a new night parade that ups the ante and blows PTN away. I was so happy when Festival of Fantasy started at WDW, as I thought it matched the fun and quality of Soundsational at Disneyland without being a copy. It sometimes seems like WDW gets the hand-me-downs at Disneyland.

I'm Irish and our wakes were for 2 days and then funeral followed by a meal that usually wound up being a send off party.

With funerals becoming as expensive as weddings things have been trimmed back over my lifetime. Still a ridiculous amount of money though and a real hardship for some. When my FIL passed a few years back and I was a big step backwards from those making the decisions I was like WOW are you people crazy (though of course I didn't say that.) But when I look back at those 2 days my coupon king FIL would have been so ticked off.

Converting always amazed me. Me I'm not against Mixing of religions if couples can work through that in advance. Of course what most of us believe is what we were raised to have faith in. Somethings I can't wrap my brain around. My cousin is now Jewish. She converted when her kids were approaching their teen years. Not judging, just can't imagine one day believing in Jesus and the next day not or vice versa one day still waiting for Jesus and then waking up and poof He has been here all along. Funny and odd the things that stick from when you were a kidl

I always wondered about the converting thing too. I don't think I could do it, as I am pretty firm in my religious beliefs. But not everyone is and that works for them, and that is fine. When I was single, that was one thing I worried about was falling for someone that didn't share my beliefs. I was actually engaged to a guy who identified himself as an atheist, I eventually broke it off for that (and many other reasons). It works out much better for me to have shared beliefs, but I know it can work for others. In a somewhat related story, my dad was Catholic growing up and switched to Lutheranism when he married my mom (who spent much of her childhood in a Baptist church), and he is now in a non-denominational church in Florida. It is funny to me because even though it is all Christian it seems like he went from strict, to somewhat strict, to loosey-goosey Christian.

Eh, whatever works for people I guess. As long as what people believe and do doesn't hurt anyone, who am I to judge.:)

Yes, he is very much a normal guy. I think that is why the people in the congregation love him so much, and he does a lot of stupid stuff to make them laugh. I couldn't be with someone who had a holier than thou attitude, and he certainly doesn't. In fact shortly into our first date he asked me what my favorite swear word was! I laughed of course, I'd never been asked that on a first date. He wanted to break down any pastor stereotypes I had right away. Oh, our church does put his sermons and parts of the services on YouTube every week if anyone is ever interested.

Here are a couple examples of what we do tailgating at Jimmy Buffett concerts. This is of Brad at one of the concerts in Chicago, and the other is us in Indianapolis with the Tiki Bar my dad built for us (I decorated it).
