Well, that sucks...although wooden nickles may be worth more than oil futures, these days. ;)
What about cruiser purchased insurance? Have no clue, just askin'...?

If they have some form of travelers insurance it should cover some of the flight foul up expenses and possibly the hotel to get them home. If the cruise line payed out to the passengers the travelers insurance is off the hook for the cruise. You can't file an insurance claim for something you already settled on because the insurance company could not subbrogate the loss with the cruise line. Basically double dipping can't happen if you cause the insurance companies Recovery Dept not to be able to attempt to reclaim their loss from the cruise line.

Thanks for letting me know. The answer is no... I make it a point to not check it when it has been like it has been for the past two months. It's way to depressing. I have faith that the value will come back up again, but, I tend to obsess on how I will continue to make ends meet to much, when it is going the other way. But... Hooray! :D Another day extra before I have to eat out of dumpsters. :in pain:

Our politicians were not going to let that oil get that low for too long. That is why I said I would take the low prices while I could. Between the agreement with Iran and Seria on the horizon and the quiet negotiations with Saudi the Queen Bee of oil along with the cutbacks on the rigs, we should all be paying lots more for gasoline in short order. We've all seen it before, it is perfectly fine for costs to far exceed oil prices but let them go back to affordable, that becomes unacceptable. Oy. :banghead:

Yeah and all logical stuff goes out the porthole if the ship is out in international waters. Laws get rewritten and adjusted over the years, Maritime Law is a relic that stands the test of time, it isn't going anywhere.

Technically, the world CANNOT handle these low prices.. even if they were "designed" and planned to destroy IRAN, Venezuela and Russia's economies (all enemies of USA).
Because there are a lot of countries whose economy were planned for at least 40 USD barrel.
Ironically, Mexico supposedly had bought an "insurance" in case the barrel would go lower than 40 USD. it is now below 20 USD for Mexican's mix.. and who knows where the "insurance" went... Probably gone to pay some fat politicians retirement bill in the Maldives.

Problem is the vast majority of US citizens wages were not built around 40 USD barrel. :( The world tends to view us all as "Gates" type of citizens and it certainly isn't the case for the majority of us. The world has a distorted view of the working class of Americans.

And, in other awesome news...
DWifey called me on the way home from the office to tell me she got the promotion she found out she was up for only two days ago! She may have shed a tear...or two... ;)
They told her they didn't even bother to interview two other possible contenders 'cause it was no contest.
The director of the department wanted her for the position back in Oct., but, higher-ups wanted to hold off for a few more months to see if she would still be performing at such a high level...apparently, they couldn't believe it...!!! :hilarious:
I'm sooo happy for her, and she sooooo very much deserves it...!!!
And, yes, it also came with a monster raise...! ;)

Interviewer: "Carolyn, now that ya' got the big promotion and raise, what are ya' gonna' do now...?!"
DWifey: "Whataya' think silly?!!! We're goin' to Walt Disney Wooooooorld...!!!!!!! :joyfull:"
:D :hilarious: ;) :)

Give her a big hug for me. She deserves every good thing that comes her way given all she has been through with previous employers. I still want to slap the Twit lady she Nanny'd for. And a good hard crack of a slap. Hope you take her celebrating. She deserves such good things to come her way. So happy for her.

Considering there were some injuries.. no surprise.

Also, I read the news update. Seems the office of royal caribbean was the one who were responsible of forcing the captain to head to the storm. They claim they gave erroneous information about the storm to the captain.

We will never know if it was an error or a financial gamble. The storm was very well predicted. They all have meteorologists of their own or under contract just like each airline does. This storm was apparently difficult to overlook its magnitude. Humans.

Sympathy like.

But, in a pinch, we have a great Tex-Mex/Mexican restaurant less than a minutes drive from the house where I can get same...! ;)

Margaritas around here are very hit or miss. I really love margaritas but jeesh about half of the sour mix tastes like soap. The premium ready made is OK but so not the same.

In my imagination I will live close enough to Epcot someday to Uber it home after visiting the World Showcase or AK frozen versions. I love daydreams.

Love, that all is good. You brought him up right, treating a "special" friend so nicely and courteous. Good job!

I so agree with that. All of our teens act in different manners even from kid to kid in the same family. Still if we raise them right the vast majority come out a good, productive member of society. Every once in a while one slips through the cracks, no fault of parents for doing everything they could, a percentage just march to a different drummer. And then there are the percentage you can just feel sorry for the kid cause because who they were born to they just don't have a freak'n chance.

I have 5 boys on my road that have an amazing Dad and a nut job of a Mom. Crazy Mom. These kids were so messed up before they hit Primary School I fear what they will be like on the adult side of the spectrum. One of the few times I'd wish for them to not live with both parents but to be raised by Dad. Poor judgement on Dad's part to create 5 of them after the writing on the wall after the first two.
