Sympathy like. The water on the street here, has gone down. Kids are both home. Just waiting on DH. He is bringing home Jersey Mike's tonight, and then off with one kid in one direction, and the other in the other direction.

About 5 more feet and I can get to my garage without rainboots. The river went over by my DD's. This is the biggest rain since she moved. I now see why the building is high and the parking lot is on a slope. The house across the way is surrounded by water. The River on the other side of the path road is under water. Decorative street light bases are under water. Hope it starts receding before the temperatures drop tomorrow. Poor planning, I should have backed into the garage.

Dang that all looks so yummy. Sadly at my age if I ate all that...well it would not have been pretty. I just sneak a taste of others these days. Still I'd love to slurp it all up.

I love all the fog pictures. I have one of a very castle, it is one of my favorites. I love different photo's like yours. My favorite which is on my Twitter is a full sized, active fire truck sitting in the old hub right as you would go over the bridge to Tomorrowland with its lights flashing. Always a interesting night when something catches fire at the MK. Look forward to more photo's. They are great!

The benefits to a small private school is that you're not just a number. I can say that I know several faculty members very well. There are quite a few who I could go to and say, "Hey, I need a letter of recommendation; can you help me out?" I'm on a first-name basis with my accounting professor. Most of my classes are 20 or fewer people, and there are no lecture halls. The downside is the cost and class availability. We have a super small chorus and no upper level Spanish, hence the exchange program. As far as cost goes, my scholarship took the cost down enough that my parents can afford the college and I won't graduate with any debt. So yeah, all options are good. But I will say this: if he hasn't applied, he needs to do that ASAP. Our admissions here are rolling, and scholarships tend to be first come first serve as well.

This!!!!! And boy I don't miss it, not at all.

THNX I did a test run this am and it seemed to go ok. I have to make them one day at a time, the only downside to SOG. I think being walking distance from Tambu should make up for that!:D That and the drinks in the bar at SOG are cheap!!!!:D

For some reason, this reminded me of the Silver Dollar, an old country dance hall we used to have here back in the day. They used to have $0.05 beer and $0.25 pitcher night.
Woof!

Nope. Took one look at Indiana, and decided he didn't like the huge feel. Also, they have been having some interesting hazing problems with marching band that have come to light recently. He checked out my alma mater, UW. All of his classes and practice rooms--all in the basement. Ironically, the same basement area I spent a lot of time in. So, even though he ate Babcock ice cream outside at Memorial Union, it was a no.

He did really like Tulane. Ok, well he really loves NOLA, and we have family that lives almost across the street from campus. But, he found out, students are not accepted into the jazz program there until junior year.

OK, if he isn't going down to Tulane will your family just adopt me then? Especially if they live on the Park side of Tulane. I could walk out the door, hop the trolley and get some real Beignets from Cafe Du Monde in a matter of minutes. *she drools*

Yes, and I can honestly say I have no recollection of our youth ever being concerned about a DUI or ever hearing of anything like DUI's on the news. It was a very different era.

He already applied and accepted. Nice scholarships at both, that make it a little cheaper than an Illinois state school (which is insane for in state tuition--just my opinion.) One he is automatically in the jazz program. The other, he has to audition for. My son actually found a school where the jazz band is bigger than any sport on campus.

My DS started out at a small private college, Carthage in Wisconsin. There music department also was bigger than most of their sports though they did have a good swim team for the Division type they were. He made it through his first year fine, went back kicking and scream'n year 2. He went off to Disney College Program and then off to public IL State more to his liking. He had the time of his life at
Both Disney and State.
