I was a picky eater in the sense that I didn't like a lot of sauces or spices....I just wanted things plain. But my mom could put just about any vegetable in front of me and I loved it...the exceptions were peppers and zucchini. Meat was the same...no liver, but she didn't like liver either, so she didn't make it often. But chicken, pork, beef...I'd eat any of it, except game meat. And I loved baked or mashed potatoes either one. And I loved most warm casseroles, too...like spaghetti, lasagna, rice dishes, etc I just didn't like ketchup, mustard, butter (unless it was melted), cheese sauce, mayo...but how hard is it to serve broccoli without the cheese sauce? Or a sandwich with JUST the peanut butter instead of a layer of butter first? It's LESS effort to leave it plain, but my mom would get so frustrated with me for being so "picky". I think the main thing is that it's so inconvenient when going to restaurants because they always slather burgers with condiments and half the time, even when we ordered a "plain" burger, they'd forget and my mom didn't want to go back and tell them they'd mess it up, nor did she want to wait long enough for them to make a new one and for me to eat it, so instead of getting mad at THEM for making a mistake, she got mad at ME for not liking the stuff.

I like virtually every single food item you mentioned in your post, including game meat. I've eaten, and enjoyed, rattlesnake, squirrel, rabbit, armadillo, venison, etc., etc., etc.
I've never met a potato/potato dish (sans sweet potatoes) I didn't like.
As far as burgers go, I almost always get them loaded. If we're makin' our own, I usually load up the first one and put only mustard and onions on the second. :hungry:
There are only 2 vegetables I can think of that I'm not a big fan of...sweet potatoes and beets.
Although, I will definitely eat them if those are my only choices. Funnily enough ;), I do like sweet potato casserole, and absolutely love pickled beets...I can eat a whole jar of 'em...! :hungry: :)

Aw....my brother and I are only 15 months apart. He was pretty awful when we were younger. One time, I was about 4 and he told me he wanted to show me a trick. He took my blanket and laid it on the floor and told me to stand on it, then he yanked it out from under me and I fell on the hard floor and hurt my arm. And then one time when we were probably 10 and 11, it was summer and I was riding my bike (that I had bought myself with my birthday and Christmas money) with my friend on our street. His bike had a flat tire and he came out begging me to let him ride my bike, but I was already riding and he was actually too big for my bike and he was not careful with things and I didn't want him to break my bike. My mom made me let him have a turn, with the understanding that when I wanted it back, he was to give it back right away. So after 15 minutes or so, I asked for it back and said it was my turn again and he refused to give it to me. So I said I was going to go get my mom and he took the bike and shoved it with the handle into my stomach as hard as he could and knocked the wind out of me. And another time, he took my bike out of the shed without asking because his was still broken and he brought it back with a flat tire. I still think he should have had to pay for the repairs. We just did NOT get along when we were younger!!

Funny how those things stick. I was pretty Tom-boyish. I liked sports and had more fun with boy toys and basically hated dolls. I had received a real cool race track and 4 cars for Christmas. The week after Christmas my Mom had her friend over with her 2 twin boys a few years younger than me. They broke part of my track and the wheels on all but one of the cars so they didn't roll anymore. I told my Mom what they had done and she actually yelled at me, what would I like her to do about it? It was broken. She proceeded to pick it up and throw it out. :jawdrop: In retrospect I wonder what the heck that was all about but I never forgot it.
