Elegant Farmer near Milwaukee Wisconsin. Slurp. Great orchards to pick your own apples too if you like climbing.

THIS is yet another reason why I LOVE the FALL!!! PIE!!!!!!!!!! That apple pie looks scrumptious!! It's a long way for me to go (Milwaukee Wisconsin), but I might just price out some airfares tonight! :D :hungry:

Cream of Wheat was o.k., but CoW didn't have Markey--my favorite hot cereal was always Maypo. In the 1960s, my mother sent away for a Marky Maypo vinyl doll for me. Marky was sitting down with his hands pointed downward, and you'd put your cereal bowl in front of him, and he'd "hold" the bowl for you! HAHAHAHA! I'd have breakfast with Markey! :joyfull:

I put a picture below to remind you how much kids liked Markey! :p

Maypo was manufactured in Burlington, Vermont. It was on Pine Street and every time I went by it, you would get this strong odor of Maple that wafted in the air. Very pleasant. "I want my Maypo!"

I don't have it often, but Cream of Wheat is one of my favorites. I don't have it often because I like it, but, only with tons of sugar added. So I always feel guilty about eating it, besides to do it right it takes so much time. I found that CoW is not terribly microwave friendly. It's quite bubbly!

When my mom would make us Cream of Wheat for breakfast she would mound it up in the bowl, put a big pat of butter in the center, then sprinkle it with sugar, and then like it was a little island she would pour half & half around it. It was like a Cream of Wheat volcanic island. Whenever I eat it even now I make it the same way.

Very creative. When my mother made it, it always came out lumpy. That is the way I like it now, but, I haven't figured out how to do that. It must have been culinary genius of some sort.

So, we got movin' about 9a Sunday mornin'. Oldest DD wanted to be on our way out of NOLA and to breakfast/brunch by about 10a. It was home game day for the Saints (potential traffic issues), plus we still had an 8-9 hr. drive (without the stops that I posted about previously) back to Austin.

We called to have the car brought around in the suggested 15 mins. before we would be down in the lobby, and we ended up down in about 10 mins. The car, however, was a different story.
We watched as several folks that came down after us had their rides delivered and were on their way.
Long story short, our "misplaced" car finally showed up way late, and we ended up with $64 worth of two nights parking fully refunded.
Finally, we were on our way to eat...! :)

My mom would make it really lumpy too! That is the way I tend to like it too. I find that it gets lumpy if you put more Cream of Wheat mix in the water than it calls for, however it has been a while since I made it.

Now I am craving some Cream of Wheat, but my husband doesn't like it so I rarely buy it anymore, so none in the house.:(

We headed west on St. Charles Ave. through the Garden District. Beautiful old homes, etc..
Where St. Charles Ave. ends and runs into S. Carrollton Ave. is this little place called...

You'd never think how much the inside looks like a traditional diner from the outside...

The food was outstanding! :hungry:
We finished it all...!

Of the 5 places we ate on this trip, 3 were recommended by a coworker of oldest DDs that used to live in NOLA; The Ruby Slipper, Napoleon House, and The Camilla Grill. We already knew about Acme Oyster House, and Cafe Du Monde.
We highly recommend all of them...! :)

As always, thanks for indulging me gang! :)
I'll post a short wrap up at some point tomorrow...! :)

I thought Camellia Grill looked familiar! They shot a couple episodes of American Horror Story there. Cool beans! :D
