Southwest is great. Two free checked bags per person, free soft drinks on the plane, and rates are usually excellent. Their planes don't have the amenities of United (no TVs), but we've rarely had problems with them, and when we have, they've been great. A few years ago, one bag did not show up at BWI. We got it delivered to our home in less than 24 hours, but they gave all of us $50 flight vouchers for our troubles.

United? Flight attendants tended to be rude, tv screens are sound was terrible...we flew with them on our first trip out to Hawaii because there was a direct flight from Washington Dulles to Honolulu. They don't do that flight anymore. Last time, coming back, not only did a flight attendant have on way too much perfume, but they were talking in the back and laughing. This was an overnight flight, so when you're trying to sleep, not exactly what you want. We're giving Delta a try this time.

I can't feel bad for a company that does poorly when they don't listen to customers or take their complaints seriously. Now I'm sure they get a lot of complaints over silly stuff (bad weather? Why is my flight cancelled? What do you mean we can't take off because of a mechanical issue?) But they need to investigate and realize the difference between complaining just for the sake of complaining and legitimate problems that could affect them in the long run.

EDIT: Worth noting, this is the same company that put passengers in military barracks after their flight was delayed.

I hope you have a great flight with Delta. After hubby flew with United for 30 years...we are done. Just tired of their lame excuses. Who doesn't know that a plane sitting in Florida heat would be to hot to board? Delay , passengers, not to pay someone to cool the plane. I could burn my hand on the window cover before we took off. I was on the sunny side.

That sounds like United. I think their ratings are almost always near the bottom. And they wonder why?

So, before I hopped on here this morning, I spent some time browsing on store sites. One of them I have to mention here to both @MOXOMUMD and @StarWarsGirl95 -- if you pull up the Kohl's site, at the top you'll see a tab to click on for STAR WARS merchandise!! I clicked it on and was surprised at how much stuff they had!! I mean, this was just your basic, usual Kohl's and didn't expect to see this fun new section they've introduced.
Go check it out--shirts, costumes, figures, all kinds of stuff!! Enjoy!!! :cat:
Thanks for info! :)

We have written, many times, as United almost is always late....hubby was a frequent flyer with them, as their hub, is Denver. All we get back is a form letter...sorry about your experience, we are working to correct....blah blah blah....that's it. A very poor company, with no customer service. We have one more flight with them, and going to try southwest and frontier. So much for customer loyalty.
Continental used to be better until United merged with them.
I hate United now and try to avoid them.
They have TINY spaces between legs now.. and charge for almost everything.

I mean, you know your service is absolutely carp.. when the worst Mexican airline has better service than them...

I go on adrenalin in Disney, and the lower altitude with much more oxygen helps. Along with the grand kids, fighting about who gets to sit by Grandma and Grandpa, keeps us going. You may have noticed my crossed eye, due to a stroke in my 50's, along with losing my hearing in my left ear. Two years ago, I had a tumor removed from my parathyroid. I dragged around for the next year and a half. Going to Disney two years later, after surgery...surprised me as well. I've never kept this schedule, for a very long time. As I told hubby....I'm back, thanks to a very good Doctor, and surgeon.
yikes, you had it rough.

We always had schnauzers when I was growing up. I'm not tempted at all to get another type of dog. I love them!

Glad to hear that you have selected a breed that consistently pleases you, and fits nicely with your family.

We just get whatever mutt in the dog shelter looks fun and friendly. Plus, the shelter's prices are reasonable. Actually, (and @Gabe1 and @donaldtoo will appreciate this too) we got a bargain when we got Jack--he was on SALE !!! :hilarious: :hilarious: :hilarious: He was priced for quick sale because he was a lunatic!! :p :p :hilarious: :hilarious:

Thank you, you certainly know it's a long road back. You've had it rough too. I had a rare tumor, it took over nine month's and yes, 69 vials of blood to find out what was happening. They had to find out why I was leaching out copious amounts of calcium out of my bones. It took a long time to track. And I finally got to the point, I was sleeping 22 hours a day. I could barely walk from one side of a room to another. I didn't cook, clean, or anything...but get out of bed take a shower, and go back to bed. I ate when hubby came home and before he went to work. He made me a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch. The calcium was in my blood and kidneys so much, that I got kidney stones, and had to have lithotripsy, surgery...to break them up out of my kidney. Life is what is it is. Don't feel sorry for me, I enjoy each and every good moment, this has strengthen my faith, in God and humanity, I had wonderful and caring nurses along the way. I take nothing for granted, and love every good experience, and savor the time with family. I was also in a bad car wreck 3 years ago, we were t boned. I was the passenger and it was a direct hit to me. I had to be cut out of the car. Now, my collar bone is right below my neck, so my breathing is hampered. But, like a timex, I take a licken and keep on ticken.;)

Just did a little internet research. Looked at tripadvisor.com at customer reviews and average ratings on airlines. Looked at Southwest, Delta, and United. Delta has an average of 3/5. Southwest has an average of 4/5 stars. Other sites reveal similar results.

We always pick shelter dogs. From the Dumb Friends (humans) league. They are the best! :inlove:

You are welcome, hubby and I had fun discovering photo op's. Added to our vacation. He took pics of all the signage around Disney. I will post if interested. Hubby took around 1,500 photo's not all great. I picked the "best " of the bunch. For a simple camera it did an amazing job. Hubby researched a lot , before he chose this camera.

Happy to see whatever pix you want to share! And, special thanks to your wonderful hubby who carefully researched his camera purchase. The pictures were great.

Our flight home was interesting, as United didn't cool down the plane, and it had sat on the runway all night. It was over 100 degrees inside the cabin. We waited for them to cool it down to about 85, took 1 1/2 hours. Still really hot, it didn't cool down until we were about to land 3 1/2 hours later. United did offer us a bottle of free water....so generous...and free T.V. However, my TV and hubby's didn't work. I slipped and fell on our tile floor, and got a concussion. Ouch! Yesterday, was the pits.:banghead: Doing better today, taking meds for headache. At least I waited until I got home, before falling.:happy:

Oh dear, sorry to hear about your fall on the tile floor! How awful!! Perhaps the only good thing was that at least you were home from vacation; it would have been a real drag if that happened when you were on your trip. Concussions take a while to heal, so just take it easy. You will be o.k. I had a concussion once and that's how I know.

Actually, I hadn't noticed anything about your eye in your pictures. Sounds like you've battled a few medical issues over the years and have successfully managed to come out on top! I'm happy to hear that you had excellent medical care and a positive attitude. :)

Thanks it's my third concussion, once ice skating, and once falling in the tub. I'm certainly a klutz! ;)

I was so fortunate to have a really good Doctor, who kept searching for an answer, when he could not diagnose..he sent me to an endocrinologist. She knew almost immediately, what was going on. Sent me to a really kind and great surgeon. He opened up my neck took out the tumor, a few weeks of recovery....and voila, I've lost lots of weight, due to a thyroid problem, on meds. and doing so good. I'm so great full that medicine has advanced in the last ten years....no one knew much about the parathyroid ten years earlier. Apparently this silent tumor grew for over 20 years....

That's so funny, we had a dog named Freddy from the shelter, he was smart , funny, and nuts. What a wonderful loveable Mutt he was...RIP
