We're also having a few days of the icky heat wave. Supposed to end up here by tonight, and be a lot better starting tomorrow. Humidity with this heat wave is what really gets to me.

Our place is small, so we only have two window units (one upstairs, one down). Even at that, we try to only run one of them at a time, and use fans as a backup. (We also close blinds and drapes to keep out the sunlight, on very hot days.) Reason for limiting usage, is that our electric rates up here are insane.

@donaldtoo , although I'm always drawn to the older, vintage cars, my eyes locked in, on the 2018 Shelby Super Snake, in black. (V8, 800 HP, 60 mph in 3.5 seconds . . . :p) That one went for $85,000.

Side note: not sure if you saw the interview with Matt the Hat. Very interesting -- he was asked how much his auctioneer skills contributed to the sale of vehicles. He said that when his voice pitches rapidly higher, he's focusing in on the highest bidder -- to see if he can keep up the excitement to get the bidder to lock in a high price, or an even higher price. (That's how it's done. ;)) Fun fact: his brother is also an auctioneer and was there last night! (OMG -- two of them! :joyfull: )

Nice! Although nowadays you wouldn't get as many. They've extended the netting at all ballparks. Too many fans were getting injured by balls and bats.

We have season tickets for Sunday's and we also go on most Fridays when the Orioles are doing well, but it's been about 11 years since I got one. They rarely come where we sit. We either sit to the left of home plate and up, which means they only come up when you get left handed hitters occasionally, and tonight we were in the law firm's seats, which are right behind home plate. I'm shocked I got one because they basically never come there. It hit the net on the wire and bounced down. Mom's gotten a few, but Dad has never caught a ball, which I find hilarious.

Funny about your dads dry spell…!!!!! :hilarious:
Yep, they were all Sunday evening/night games that started at 7:05p. The seats were down the right field line beyond first base, and there were never that many fans on that side, because the sun was in your face as it set beyond home plate. So that helped too…if a foul ball didn’t come directly to us, we could usually just go get it…good times…!!! :)

ETA…
And, I know about the netting too. So many fans hurt by foul balls, bats, or pieces of bats. Haven’t been to that stadium in years, but I’m sure they’ve done same.

Yes, I’m into the new muscle cars, too. The Dodge Charger, Chevy Camaro, Ford Mustang, etc., are all just refined designs from back in their heyday, but, they’re putting out gobs more horsepower…!!! :)

I did not see the interview with “The Hat”, but, it sounds like you were in “Hat Heaven”…!!!!! :hilarious:;)

I’d take a cold shower then 5 mg of melatonin. Whatever weather one can go to sleep but maybe waking up in the morning in a deep sweat then take another cold shower. I once stayed several days in a friend house in North Easton MA in July one year. No AC no fans , outside temps 95, and it was not pleasant but the NE clambake was delish.

And this is what they did:

I don’t like it at all! Does not capture my pup other than the shape. Didn’t even get the Chow colored tongue (and I specified her breed.) And she looks like she’s on crack. 🤣

Emailed to see what can be done. Definitely not going to work for B’s anniversary gift! 🤣

@donaldtoo -- a few favs from this afternoon, below. I've been in and out today, so I haven't seen the auction from the start. (Note: this auction brought in a large crowd of people -- standing room only, according to the announcer.)

57 Chevy Bel Air Pro Touring, white with brown, $95,000
69 Camaro convertible, silver and black stripes white interior $68,000
63 Chevy Vette (split rear window -- yup, I really like those!) unusual color, all-over saddle tan -- $160,000
77 Pontiac Trans Am SE, black, gold bird on hood -- Reserve off at $137,000 - bidding is still going on

Curious to know if this is just some sort of software program, that doesn't pick up the nuances (such as the Chow black spots on the tongue, for example).

Just now started watching again.
Speaking to the ‘77 Trans Am (basically, a “Smokey and the Bandit” car - although those were ‘76 models), there were 2 guys in HS from the more affluent neighborhood across the road that had new ‘77s when they came out. 400 c.i. (6.6 liter) small blocks, t-tops, the works. One was black, the other silver.
2 other bros from a rich family in the town the HS was in (Round Rock) drove red ‘63 convertible ‘Vettes all through HS.
I wonder what ever happened to all those dudes…?! 🤔
Anyway, these auctions are definitely fun to watch…!!! :)
