True, but Matt the Hat was there, and that's all that matters! :joyfull:

Some of my favs were still taking bids by the program's end, so I didn't see the final price. (Couple of cars that sold in the moderately priced range, I really liked. (These may not have had all the most expensive features, but were beauties) --

61 Chevy Corvette (convertible), red and white, red interior, whitewalls, $76,000
62 Cadillace Series 63 Sedan, silver blue, whitewalls $22,000
57 OIdsmobile 88 (convertible) red and white, whitewalls $34,000

More coverage this afternoon.. Oh, the announcer referenced some interesting private collections for August, in Monterey, CA. I took a peek online -- wow!

Wow, I just went through the first eight pages from that Monterey, CA auction…AWESOME…!!!!!!! :joyfull:
The first thing I thought of when I saw the one pictured below was “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”…!!!!! :hilarious:

ETA…
My fave out of the 3 you mentioned was definitely the red and white ‘57 Olds 88 convertible (love the Vette and Caddy too, but, the olds really caught my eye)…!!!!! :inlove:

For something that probably sold new for $250.00, who says autos depreciate.

Let’s face it, the vast, vast majority of autos don’t appreciate. The 20-year-old Chevy Malibu I’m currently drivin’ is DEFINITELY not gonna’ resell for above the 18-20K my Pops friend paid for it new…at this point, it probably wouldn’t bring more than about $500…!!!!! :hilarious:

So.. after 4 months of waiting for the government immigration offices to check my request to grant me a permit to study in Canada. Where the usual waiting time is 4 weeks.
I decided to send them a message via their webform. Also to include additional data of my funds.
They knowledged the receipt of the additional information. And they said they would contact later for an update.
So today I got an update and son of a b...
After 4 months with no updates.. they tell me that I'm refused because "You did not give your fingerprints". (they also mentioned photos but I had sent photos in my document list).

The problem?
4 months of no updates, no messages.. nothing..
And they blindsided me with a refusal of "you didn't provide something" that they didn't even ask is outrageous.

Worse? I'm moving to Canada in 20 days!!!!

So yes.. I'm FURIOUS!!!

Just wondering, do you have any contact (business or friend) up in Canada, who might be able to place a call for you to the appropriate gov't. immigration people, to see if this last detail (fingerprints) can be expedited, in some way?

I have a friend, but she's elderly.
I do not think its a good idea to put the weight on her.
But yes, I might just bite the bullet and hire a consultant.

I just barely have enough time to get it via a consultant.
But first, I sent them a message via the same webform to check if they made a mistake. and did provided an screenshot where there is nowhere asking for fingerprints.

*edit*
If I do not get a proper response.. I'm going to to just check with a consultant and hope it gets in time.

Wishing you all the best and hoping this issue will get resolved for you in time. If your form that you followed did not list anything about providing fingerprints, I cannot understand how they can request those now. (Also, I wouldn't have a clue where to get fingerprints, to begin with.)

I had to get fingerprinted for the renewal of my last teacher's license, our state moved to a lifetime license so there were some new requirements. I ended up having to go to a photography/camera shop about 45 minutes away from my house. They do passport photos and have a fingerprinting machine as part of their services too. The process was easy and didn't involve any ink, it was digital scans of my prints.

Restore it and you will probably get thousands for it. Course you will spend thousands to do that, just like most all those high priced cars at the auction.

Hubs even got caught up in the frenzy yesterday. In half a minute or less, he knew exactly which ones would stir up a bidding war. The only thing that threw him into meltdown, was when there was a classic car that some guy would modify. Yup, he'd start screaming (cussing ) at the TV!

This was me -- :hilarious:

(By way of background, he got his car mechanic certification back in his early 20s. Also, his father was a collector of certain pricey, vintage cars -- never, ever, with modifications!)

My father, among many other things, was a top notch mechanic. One year he restored a 1931 Model A (I think that was the year) Completely restored top to bottom, engine, transmission, interior (including the rumble seat). Painted it with a blue body, black fenders and yellow spoke wheels. Even at my young age of 10 or 11, I recognized it to be a great old car. The pages of the J.C. Whitney parts catalog were dog eared and frayed. At a point after he completed it money got tight and he was forced to sell it. A kid in his late teens bought it and instantly converted it into a hot rod. My Father hated him for what he did to it, but it was his car by then. Nothing he could do about it. I don't know how much he sold it for but in spite of all his other talents when it came to selling personal property he undervalued things everytime. This was probably in 1960 so things, although relative to the times, were a lot less expensive.
