For anyone interested in the yearly White House holiday decorations, good news! HGTV just announced that this Sunday, at 6:00 PM (EASTERN), Zoey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott will present the tour(along with the First Lady). I've watched this special for many years now -- IMO, it's one of the highlights of the Christmas TV season.

We got a Christmas tree today. 
(It's in the tree stand, in water. I always let it "sit" for 1-2 days, to let the branches "settle" -- so that I don't have to keep rearranging lights and decorations.) Livingroom smells like balsam!

I put up my tree the other day. Smells like plastic
Though I do miss the smell of trees inside.

Our tree is 32 years old.....we had to get a fake one as we were in apartment then, but I chose one I loved, and have used since and people still think it's real at first take, even though it has lost like 10,000 plastic needles, I kid you not......but for the scent? I have balsam scented candles, not lit but a couple placed around room so you just get a hint and not overpowering by Illume. 
AND it still looks good to me..... I figure if I got a real tree it would be more hassle and I could not get as good of a shape, nor fit my ornament stash on it.....besides DH builds it and sort of helps me decorate it.....

I have wax melts and candles, all blended by me.
