Got me to thinkin’…
Most people think of Colorado as all Rocky Mountains, when, actually, about a third of the state (eastern Colorado) looks like this…!!!!! :hilarious:

True. I've been there -- both, in the extremely high mountains, and in many totally flat land areas across the state. :)

Yes, don’t you have a brother that lives/lived there…?
The last time we were in Colorado was in the winter of ‘87 on a ski trip. We met a couple there who were friends of ours who lived in Austin for a while, and then moved back to Iowa.
I remember flying over eastern Colorado on the way back and seeing how the areas with snow were so hit or miss…entertained me for a while anyway…look, shiny object…!!!!! :hilarious:

Recognising all the dads who were there for their kids. I never knew my own father, but, my Grandfather was the finest man I ever knew.

Thank you…!!! :)
Sorry about your Pop.
I knew both of my grandfathers, and they were good men, but, have long since passed.
Pop (as well as mom, age 83) is still healthy and with us, and will be 90 on Jan. 1st. We’ll be visiting them a little later today…!!!
Thanks again for the Father’s Day wishes…!!! :)

No worries, and, yes, Houston is as flat as a pancake, as is the whole Texas coastal region. But, it’s a big state, and if you were to get away from the airport (which I know couldn’t be the case in this instance ;)), the general Houston area, and especially the Piney Woods of East Texas, are actually quite beautiful, as well…!!! ;):)

Yeah, I've passed through a lot of states, but mostly when I come out here, I end up in Denver, Salt Lake City, or Minneapolis. All of which are, well, definitely not flat, so Houston is very striking that way. It also just keeps being flat for what seems like forever. Coastal SC is also very flat, but it doesn't take too long going inland before it's not anymore.

Anyway, between that and the mammoth long train, I was like, wow, what's up with this state?🤣

Unfortunately it was very cloudy so I didn't get to see most of the rest of the state from the air, and then we ended up over Mexico, where it was so bright that my seatmate asked if we could just close the window.

I'm coming back through Houston, so I will have to take a look out the window and check out how flat it is. 🤣

We did consider a trip to TX growing up because my uncle who's not my uncle used to live in Dallas. He eventually got divorced and moved back to MD, though.

Haven't started drinking.

Yet.
I have an answer for that. The Harbor Ridge Winery in Door County has free wine tasting.

There is a downside for their free wine tasting. The employees there rather have a person taste lots of wines instead of just 1 or 2 based on what I was told by Mom. What by lots of wine of wine is at least tasting 5 wines in a good sized wine glass.
