A fool and their money...

I think the only people buying in the parks right now are resellers. Like they did with the 50th stuff.
Resellers have frequented Disney parks for years. Some I met at the infamous DHS Star Wars Weekends back in the day which I enjoyed going to. Hundreds of guests slept outside the ticket booths for 3 days after the parks closed Thu, Fri, Sat at night to be the first in line for autograph signings and or be the first to enter " Darth's Maul" to buy thousands of dollars of limited edition merchandise with some reselling the items later.

If that makes them happy. I guess good for them. I simply do not understand the fixation.
Autographed stuff.. maybe... anything else.. yeeeeah nope.

But then, I also got my quirks of things I really love and get excited that nobody does (like new technology)

Haven't peeked in there yet today, but from what you shared, it's easy to see who are the real fans of that iconic aircraft. You and I (and certain others) see it as a beautiful, historical piece, and are thrilled that it's been restored -- period. Sure, would love to have it permanently down in WDW, but for years it was rotting in the sun -- until now, when it was (thankfully) restored. So, let it be displayed anywhere at this point and even sponsored by a large company (the way they used to do things in the old EPCOT). It just may mean the preservation of this beautiful plane, for many years to come.
I was there the night they pulled it out of Hollywood Studios. A LEO friend called me and gave me the "heads ups" to come and watch. I am so glad they are doing something with it, rather than sitting in a field. I would love for it to eventually make it to the Smithsonian!

Yea, I don’t really care where it “lands” ;), and am just sooo damn glad they chose to save it and restore it.
I also realize it’s inconsequential to most, but, as “they” say, it’s sometimes the little things that count the most…!!! :)

The thing is that I don't believe it was restored or that it is no longer still sitting in that field at WDW. They don't spend money on anything and they don't need that plane unless they are planning to sell it. First off, it has no engines and hasn't since it was put in DHS. It was repainted or the "wrap" removed when it was put out in the field. The engines were removed and sold shortly after the World Drive landing. The most they might have done, if anything at all, is repaint it. Think about it folks, there are pictures of it with Walt using it. Walt has been dead for 55 years. That dog don't hunt no more and that deteriorating pile of scrap metal don't fly no more.

All that said, I would like to see the shell displayed someplace but the whole idea that it has been restored is ridiculous in my opinion. Partial at best, just like it was shown in DHS. We had the pleasure of seeing it for about 30 years in a park that Walt never saw or even dreamed about. If they are going to display it permanently, logically it would be in the place that made ownership of it possible, California (i.e. Disneyland).

Sooo…
They spent even more money on an imposter just to fake us believing losers out…?! :cyclops:
Also, last I checked, aircraft-grade aluminum does not deteriorate for a VERY Long time.
Man, I myself can be a cynical ol’ dog from time to time, but, even I’m not that cynical…!!!!! :hilarious:
