I checked that, ran all kinds of health checks on it, cleaners, all that stuff. If I weren't back in school, I probably could keep it going. Since I'm back in school, though, I think it can't handle that anymore.

My work computer is even worse. As soon as I hit my three year mark in April, I'm having work replace that thing.
I periodically have to clear out a crap load of cookies and then everything runs good again for about 6 months. I'm trying to lose some weight so I do not need any cookies.

The one I ordered is an i7 with 16 GBS of RAM and a 512 SSD. Which will be fine for school purposes. My current one is an i7 but only has 8 GBs of RAM. So for accounting, not working very well.

My work computer is also an i7 with 16 GBs of RAM, (and I constantly have spreadsheets open) although it's a horrible HP and is getting very slow. It worked very well until about the last six months. Now it has a perpetual case of the Mondays.

I use the Surface for taking notes and drawing stuff over PDF files.
A large part of your post might as well be in Greek. When I buy a computer all I want to know is can I run my Quicken program, listen to my music and check out my social media stuff. Other than that has the same priority as having to know how come when I flip the switch the light comes on. GBS RAM, SSD, i7 have no meaning to me at all.

Toward the end of my career (maybe the last 20 years or so) computers became essential. Before that we actually had to create things ourselves with no electronic help. I learned how to do a lot of thing on them, but not the technical end of things. I taught myself how to create a power point training presentation, all trail and error. Been retired now for 11 years and I couldn't do it again with a gun pointed to my head. When I was in publishing I would have killed for spellcheck, but it wasn't available at that time.

I just started to stream in the last few weeks. I'm not a big movie fan so I don't do that much, but was enticed to do so when my daughter told me about the "Get Back" Beatles documentary on Disney+. (great btw) Last night I started to watch "UP", something I saw at the theater when if first came out. And since this season never fails to depress me anyway, the beginning of "UP" kind of knocked the pins out from under me and even though I now I was pretty much past that part, I still couldn't continue. I loved the movie when I'm feeling up to it because the beginning emotes so much palpable emotion that it was like the characters were real people. I knew Ellie for 15 minutes and I already felt a void watching a freaking cartoon. She didn't die, they just stopped drawing her. I did relate to Russell though I suppose it should have been Carl. Hadn't gotten to Dug before I stopped. Sorry for the ramble, something about the previous paragraphs just triggered me.

It is in Joisey!!!!!!!!!!!! We also had Italian and Polish Easter, Italian Christmas Eve, Hanukkah, etc.. The town I lived in was only about 3 square miles but had 5 pizzerias, an Italian bakery, 2 good bread bakeries with a 10-minute drive, a pork butcher, a regular butcher, a fish monger, several delis including a Kosher one(that may have been over the border), a nicely stocked grocery store and 2 farm markets within a short driving distance.
I was under the impression that everything that is available there is within a 10 minute drive. 🤔

I imagine just about every holiday in Joisey is Italian. But I don't think Thanksgiving was originally celebrated with pasta....

Thank you sir. You were an inspiration.

That doesn't make any sense. Everything ever cooked or presented as food, is or has the potential to be a snack. There are customarily three meals a day and everything else, no matter the quantity is a snack. I'll bet James knows that.
More than 3
Breakfast
Second breakfast
Elevensies
Lunch
Brunch
Hi tea
Afternoon tea
Dinner
And midnight snack.

Am sure @Figgy1 can mention any that I missed.

Major and or small cities don't even have this. For all the complaints of cold weather, high property taxes, high stress of the Northeast yadda yadda, etc, , one doesn't know what they are missing until they miss the food! The " NY style " pizza advertised in some cities is laughable as an example.

Lilofan, any plans for Christmas or other upcoming holidays this month? (I used to work with a woman who bypassed all the holidays, except for New Year's Eve -- then, it was Animal House!) :hilarious:

Small gatherings with family, thanks for asking. I'm glad I have gotten my shots out of the way before the holidays including shot#1 Shingles vaccine. I had rough side effects for 24 hours post shot, just getting shot #2 in next 2-6 months according to pharmacy instructions.

Oh, that's good. :) Small gatherings are my favorite. You're smart to get all your covid vaccines done before the family gatherings. (Also, sounds like you got Shingrix for shingles; that's a 2-dose regimen. Luckily, I had no reactions to those particular shots.) Hoping your 2nd one in months ahead, goes better for you.

And a special bonus the pharmacist told me my insurance is very good, my copay was $0. He advised some others insurances don't cover for shingles vaccine, and they must pay $300 for the 2 shots.

Mom made Christmas cookies today.

She made types that she likes to do on her own. She decided to do that today since Dad was helping me with my Christmas Decorations. He wanted my battery only Christmas decorations to have the ability to use ac adaptors.
She made peanut butter blossoms today. She made the ones with stars. She also made another batch another batch that has Werther's caramel in the middle of the peanut putter blossom.

@Figgy1, if you boys are reading, mom didn't make enough for them.
