We're understaffed because we've been told and also heard from other outlets that Target wont be hiring as many people this year. That everyone currently working is going to get the max even though.....50% of the staff are either a minor, or physically cant work 40 hours because of 2nd job and or school. This Christmas is gonna be pretty bad.
But heey, executive bonuses are untouched, right? XD

The world is currently short staffed. We currently don't have two accountants we should have. You should see my workload, and I'm not even an accountant yet. They're like, "Oh look, you have basic accounting skills, here you do this." Because we literally have one actual accountant right now.

Well, our one accountant just resigned this past month, so there hasn't been time to hire her replacement. They're looking for another accountant who has managerial experience as well, so that's a tall order. We also have a brand new system that goes live in January; they'll probably determine who they need to once that's live. It doesn't make sense to hire a bunch of people now only to realize that we're more efficient in the new system and don't need as many. It just means right now they have a non-accountant doing accounting stuff.

That's promising looking into more staffing in your situation but in other locations more responsibility have been given to existing staff ( ones who haven't been laid off, laid off staff who have not been replaced ). Efficiency is also a buzz word - less employees needed , existing staff having more on their plate to include outsourcing work to third party to include automation . I was shocked traveling through Baltimore and the toll booths at the tunnel no longer have workers as a huge cost savings. EZ pass or the camera takes a picture of your vehicle and Baltimore sends you the bill in the mail . That's efficiency , job elimination and cost savings all in a package deal. Seems like toll booth workers could be extinct in the future, add to that cashiers near extinction in businesses with companies having the customers use self pay kiosks.

Just came from Lowe's they have all the Christmas stuff out already by the time Christmas actually comes I 'll be so ho hum about it. I can remember when it wasn't put out until after Thanksgiving then it was after Halloween and now it's a month before Halloween. Won't be long and they will put it out after 4th of July. Anyone else feel like I do?

Door County is different than some other places. Door County's community leaders had a problem, but do don't nothing about it before covid hit.

What I am referring to is back in June, there is a J-1 visa shortage for Door County. The salary compared to the cost of living in Door County for a seasonal job has been issue for years. Door Counties transportation would be a problem no matter what because you are dealing with a bunch of small towns/ villages in door county. The 2nd problem with door county is is the lack of affordable rental places although that has apparently is starting to change soon.

There has companies for years that are either short staffed or employees that couldn't do their job. I am mentioning this because of 2 of my aunts. The 2 in question are retired.

One of them was forced to retire in July due to serious medical problem in June that had her end up in a hospital and is not quite the same anymore. She was an accountant. That aunt was salaried, but had to work 7 days a week due to workload that included doing her own bosses work. I have another aunt that is retired, but had to cover up employees that couldn't do their job.

Yes. Holiday/Christmas shops have an excuse since they are open all year long, but there is no excuse for places like At Home, and Hobby Lobby having their Christmas stuff out in August or early September.

I know Menard's does not have all their Christmas stuff out online or in stores yet, but some places do have their stuff out already where I live.

I went to At home last week and it looks like their Christmas inventory could be gone by the time Halloween comes. When I went, the store already had lots of empty space for Christmas stuff that apparently was full at one point.
