Congratulations to her team!! That's great! But I totally understand the dilemma. Will the older ones not understand that this is for her cheer competition and not just a disney trip? I can understand not wanting to go with the other kids if your husband can't go. How long would you be at Disney? Do they get tickets to the parks while they are there? Do all the parents have to go with their own kids or do they select a few parents to go as chaperones?
So here is how this all works which makes everything difficult. The competition is 3 days currently. May 13-15. You see it really stinks because the qualification is for the quarter final. They have to compete at Disney to get to the semis. Then they would have to compete again to get to finals. I think they need to be in the top ten for semi qualification and there could be 30 other teams or more. They have to get in the top 5 for finals. Some teams will already just go straight to semis or finals depending on the bid they received. So if they don’t qualify for the higher rounds in my opinion it is a wasted trip 900 miles away from home. We have to assume they will get to finals and Disney has packages for these types of events where the passes are less expensive than the regular. It is just I will have to stay until at least Sunday and they will be potentially done on Thursday. I hate not being home when my oldest has finals. I hope they will just be on Monday and Tuesday like they were in the fall. I am hoping that during the rest of the season they qualify for a full-paid bid which gets them straight to finals on Saturday. Then I would just stay 3 days. We currently would have to be there Wednesday early on because they would need to practice down there for a couple of hours. I was thinking of driving down, but it seems more sense to fly and it is cheaper just for two.

Sounds like a hassle :(

Well it looks like youngest and I will be going to Disney in May. One of her teams qualified for the end of season cheer competition at Disney. It will be the weekend of the 14th. Not sure about the rest of the family. My oldest has finals that week. My husband does not have off. We planned to go away the week before Memorial Day so his schedule is set. So, it may just be her and me. Have to figure out the logistics of all of that. Not staying on-site. The gym owners have a time share at Holiday Inn Orange Lake and want everyone to stay there. My other kids will be upset if she and I go to Disney and they don’t. 🤦‍♀️ I hope that maybe we can just go to Uni the end of May. We’ll see. Problems, right? 😉

Congrats to her for qualifying! I hope they do well. I'm sure you'll have fun at Disney or Universal. The other kids might be upset about not being able to got to Disney with you but sometimes not everyone can do the same things.

@MySmallWorldof4 How is your daughter doing with college? Is she still virtual or are there classes on campus? I forget, was she living at home or campus? Sorry for all the questions.
We only live 20 minutes from the university so she commutes. Most of her classes were online last semester except for bio and chem lab. This coming semester is now starting Feb 4 instead of the original starting date which was the last week in Jan. No in person learning until Feb 22.

We spoke this morning and decided it would just be me and K. It would be cheaper and going on the family trip the end of May would be more feasible. We may just drive down to Pensacola and go to a beach there. Would love to go to Huntsville as well. My youngest is obsessed with NASA. Maybe try going to Dollywood? We’ll see. We may go to Uni in August.

We did this last night, “plussed.”

There’s an Italian restaurant here called Primanti Brothers. (Originally from Pittsburgh.) Their pizza is “meh,” but they have “Almost Famous sandwiches:” your choice of deli meat or tuna with cole slaw, French fries, oil & vinegar, and we usually add onion. They’re big, and you go right to sleep afterwards.

That’s not what we got.

We’ve been making various healthier versions of it at home for years - baked fries instead of deep fried, smaller healthier bread, etc.

I think Brian perfected it last night using Arnold 12 grain bread (toasted) baked shoestring fries, tuna, and the slaw was in a Vidalia sweet onion dressing.

I am making more fries now and having another for breakfast lol.

So basically, they are only guaranteed a spot in the quarter finals, but you have to book as if you are in the finals just in case you make it that far? So if you don't make it beyond the quarters, you have already booked your rooms and tickets, so it doesn't make sense to waste it be leaving early, and you can't get it refunded if you don't use it? They definitely milk it, don't they? I mean, I guess for most people, they are excited to get to go to Disney for a few days, but it can also be a real financial burden for some, and a problem with time constraints for others. Can you get the package to include your older kids? Your oldest is doing online learning from home anyway, right? Or are the finals in person? Could you take the older kids with you? Or is it only for the competitors? What a tough system, logistically!

I honestly have no idea😂😂 I guess we'll see 😂😂
Well, I honestly think it looks great, but I know for some people, it takes longer to get used to a new look. People are always so shocked when I chop my hair off to donate it. It doesn't bother me at all, and usually by the time I get to the point of cutting it, I really can't wait to be rid of it! But a lot of people say they couldn't do it, or at least not cut it so short as I cut mine, after making the effort to grow it out. To each his own. I hope it will either fade a bit or that you get used to it and end up loving it.

I would like to go to Huntsville too. I had a student a few years ago that went to a space camp there and had a blast. The NASA stuff is fascinating to me too. I went to Dollywood when I was a kid and it was lots of fun, I'd like to go back someday.
