Wow! All started by a joke? That is nuts. I still bet there are plenty that will go.

I recall this story from a few months ago. However, I had forgotten the exact upcoming date of this lunacy, until Mr. Ferret's post.

Yes, there will be some misguided people who will trek out there, and they'll be shown the persona non grata exit road, by the military security force. Should be interesting . . .

Long work rant...

I have this one salesperson out in our west coast office. Woman makes sooo many mistakes inputting her sales orders, and she's insists on doing everything herself even though we have a huge support staff to do the administrative stuff for the salespeople.

A few weeks ago, I found she made a huge error on one of her sales orders and it was reporting like 37% loss on a huge order. It created a whole mess and it was an administrative error on her part that I had to fix, along with my boss. I had a good working relationship with her, but basically, since I found the error, she's been very cool with me. Basically, I found the error, asked her what happened, she tried to pin it on me, and my team member on the email chain turned around and politely but firmly said no, this was your error. I had to go to another manager and explain the error. I didn't beat around the bush about it. Basically, she looked really bad. My boss asked for a meeting about it to make sure it doesn't happen again with another manager. She declined without explaining her reason (her calendar showed as available). Basically in that meeting, the other manager, since she didn't show up, did not speak very kindly of her. Basically, he said the same thing as I did: if she gave the order to the admin team to complete, they would have done it correctly; they do this all day everyday.

Today, at 5 pm, she sent over an urgent request for my team. Another request that technically a support person should be handling, but nope. I happened to be around and planned to work until 6, so I took the request. I completed it for her and said hey, this is updated, but there's this issue. She emailed me back this one sentence reply that made no sense to me. I emailed her back asking for clarification. I waited a good ten minutes for a response, but it was close to six and I left.

I normally don't check email when I get home, but I did this time. She sent a reply at 7:15 pm. Basically saying where I should find the information and that she needed it done by the end of the business day today. I'm like, so you sent an urgent request in at 5 pm, I took care of it, but then that still wasn't good enough for you so you're bugging me at 7:15 pm? Haha, no that's not getting done for you. Wait until tomorrow and then you can explain it to the customer.

I think my next step needs to be for my boss to reach out to her boss. I thought about CCing her boss on another email, but chose not to.

I'm soooo done with her.

Well, let's see . . . for openers, you might want to enlighten her with the fact that CA is 3 hours behind us?!! :p

As for the rest of the mess, let management handle it (and it sounds like it's definitely on their radar). I know how you feel though when you have a good relationship with a colleague, and due to their mistakes, the relationship can also go south. Been there. What you have to do is protect yourself and your group, if the mistakes are not a result of your office. You've done that, and there's not much more you can do at this point.

So, an update on last night's art group meeting and presentation. A few artists introduced themselves to me, and inquired about the name of my studio and where it was. Um, my studio? 🤔 (Well, it's like . . . I'm sitting on the sofa in the livingroom with art paper and charcoal, on a rickety old tray table . . . that my dog loves to bodyslam while I'm trying to draw my masterpieces . . . ). :p

Art instructor to my rescue -- he explained to various people that I was a beginner student, so that took off a lot off pressure on me! :joyfull: Anyway, they were all very welcoming, and didn't seem to mind at all that I wasn't a professional like them.

Presentation by one of the artists was awesome -- she worked magic on her canvas with acrylics. I love watching people draw, and she was very talented.

Well good news. The air came back on when we cut it on this morning. We still had it checked out, and they found nothing wrong. We have a load control on our heat pump, so they may have activated it yesterday since it was in the 90s. Usually my DH finds out at work, but they didn’t let him know. So, hopefully, that is what happened. Anyways, worth the checkup!

After all the changes this week at work, I really no longer have the old "down-time" to come here as before. It's bitter sweet, but I am glad for the extra work and getting my name out there. But I got to tell ya, I haven't felt this stressed from work in many years. The hubs said my brain and body will adjust after a couple of weeks.

Man, I am so tired, a good tired, but tired none the less.

I will still come visit from time to time, but it will be far less activity.
