I've lived in several East Coast states, and that beach grass and dune fencing is widespread from New England to the Carolinas. It's not a California thing, nor does it evoke SoCal beaches. I'm assuming native New Yorker Paul Pressler didn't care.
Although, apparently up in Humboldt County they have some of this look? Who knew?
For those not from the West Coast, Humboldt County is in far northern California, almost to the Oregon border and approximately 700 miles from Disneyland. About the same distance as Charleston, South Carolina to New York City.
