Polynesian and Wilderness Lodge. It was a close call for me because I find both of the deluxe hotels really good with themeing and room size. I chose Polynesian because it's tropical and has really great atmosphere. Wilderness Lodge on the other hand is more rustic and North West kinda theme. I live in that kind of area so it's nothing new for me.

Polynesian is a great hotel, though expensive but it's worth it most definatly. But when you are comparing the food of both hotels it's different way. I'd choose Wilderness Lodge because it has more food choice. I realize that it went rehab but so is the Polynesian one. So I can't judge it on that.

My vote is for the Wilderness Lodge!

We just stayed at the Boardwalk Inn....lets just say we won't be going back.

We loved being able to walk to Epcot, and the boat ride to MGM was nice, but the busses for everthing else were horrible! This was the first WDW vacation that I made an official complaint. We waited almost 45 minutes for a bus to MK and when one finally arrived, we still had four more stops before we could leave.

While this may seem small. there was an IRS conference while we were there, and the conference registration table was at the top of the stairs where you go to the Boardwalk. Talk about ruining the magic. Why can't they register in the conference center?

On our last full day, there was a person in a wheel chair and the bus was trying to pull in to help him on, when the doors opened everyone tried to push on. The driver asked people to wait because he needed to adjust the bus. A lady and her daughter came running down the path to get on the bus so we told her that he was just adjusting to get the wheelchair on, she looked atus as if we were dirt and tried to get on through the back door. When the doors opened again, the driver again said don't go through the back doors I'm still parking. She didn't hear him so we said to her that he was going to move the bus. She got on anyway. We waited to get on and as the driver was buckling the wheelchair in she got back off and started yelling at us, thanking us for trying to make her feel stupid. As I sat down next to her, she continued to verbally assault me, while everyone on the bus watched. Unfortunately her attitude seemed prevalent at this resort.

The worst part, we had reservations for WL and I cancelled them for my first attempt at an AP discount.:brick:

Sorry for the rant.

I love the WL because of its look and feel. It is the most homey of the Deluxe Resorts and most family friendly, IMO. It really is a shame that it wasn't connected to a monorail. So close, yet so far away:(

I have been able to stay in some nice hotels around the world and have been into most of the hotels on Disney property, but there has been only one when i have walked in the lobby for the first time and my mouth literally drop open. Wilderness Lodge.

Remind me not to go with any of you Polynesian lovers in the hot and stormy periods! That resort isn't bad, but there's a time and place for it and I wouldn't reccomend it in all seasons.

I voted Contemporary and WL, pick what fits your budget.

I agree. But it was built with the monorail in mind, it may just happen.

I am shocked at how GF is dragging behind in the polls. I have never stayed there, but I assumed people really liked it. It seems very beautiful.

While we have not stayed at all the deluxe resorts, we have visited all of them. My wife loves WL and I love BC. We both feel that YB is a little "stuffy" for us.

I would argue that it may be the most practical if you have small children: The Magic Kingdom is the first stop on the monorail route, there is a great character breakfast, they have 2 pools, one with a slide, the rooms are bigger than any other resort, the have multiple restaurants for all price ranges, and finaly they have free robes and nightly turn down service! For most people who say the GF is snobby or snooty, I doubt many have stayad there, we've always found it a great place to relax, have a romantic time (even after having a child), and really enjoy WDW to its fullest (and we love the WL just as much but for different reasons.

Man, that sounds good. We have two small children and that sounds really convenient. However, I would have to take out a second mortgage to stay there from some of the quotes I have gotten there in the past.

The Boardwalk due to the fact that it is within a 10 minute walk to Epcot and 15 minute walk to MGM. Or you can take the boat to both. Then you have all the restaurants and nightlife on the boardwalk at night. You can watch Illuminations at night, too.

For those that have small children and strollers, being able to avoid the bus and walk to 2 of the parks is key. It is a nightmare when you try to get a stroller onto a packed bus at the end of the night.

Sorry but I dissagree with you. The GF Makes the BC and the AKL look like moderate resorts and I have stayed at all three of them. The MK is one stop from the GF if you stay at the poly it is two. On the way back I take the boat which the GF is the first stop while the poly is second:lol: The room I had at the GF had a perfect view of the castle in which I could just sit and watch the fireworks from my patio. Also I arrived at the GF at 5.50 am and my room was ready which was perfect because I was able to sleep a little bit before hitting the parks:wave: I didn't even have to make a res. in advance for Narcoossee's and 1900 park fare the concierge was able to get me in at the times I wanted.

Poly...No WL....No Poly....No WL.

LOL. This is basically the exact same conversation going on at my house right now as we decide where to stay during our October visit. We'll probably go with Poly, because of the monorail.

Or maybe not. :veryconfu

I LOVES me some Wilderness Lodge! :sohappy:

There's just something about that place that really makes me feel like I am on vacation.

If I'm not there, you can find me at POFQ or POP...in that order!

Swan and Dolphin of course! :lookaroun :D

They have the Westin Heavenly Beds, you can walk to both MGM and Epcot, and with you can see all four parks from everywhere in the resort makes it perfect.

(Oh yeah, and me working there makes it even better!)

We always try to get some discount be it AP or AAA, but you're right, it is pricey but it's nice to splurge sometimes. The WL is still the best value in my opinion.

The monorail is so much more convinient than the WL boat if you have small kids, otherwise I think the WL is really great.

I stated the Boardwalk, but now that I think about it, I'm going to say the Yacht/Beach Club. Someone posted that long wait for buses at the Boardwalk. Although you can walk or boat it to Epcot and MGM in 10-15 minutes, the buses aren't good. They lump the Swan, Dolphin and Boardwalk all on 1 bus. Coming back from Wishes at MK, we waited 45-60 for a bus. All other resorts were empty at the line queues, yet no bus would switch to our resort. When you are dead tired from all day in the sun and have a 2 year old and stroller, it isn't fun standing there.

Yacht/Beach Club have their own bus, so you can walk/boat to MGM/Epcot and then have your own bus for MK and AK. You get all the features of the boardwalk, too.
