The Amazing Race Family Edition

A good thing to come of this edition is that I bet lots of parents let their 7 and 9 year olds stay up and watch it because of the kids in the race.
We're doing that. My 6, 8, and 10 year old boys got hooked on The Amazing Race watching the reruns on GSN. Now, with the family edition, they are even more hooked. They want to be on the show.

So, we give them "tasks" around the house in Detour style. A classic is P00p or Play. In P00p, teams will have to clean the dog p00p from the backyard. It's kind of gross, but teams that can hold their noses may finish quickly. In Play, teams must clean the basement play room. There's nothing scary about the task, but cleaning the entire play room could take ... a long time.

The best story to come out of this year's version is that the Paolo's may actually come out of this a better family....which is better than any therapist could ever have done for them!

...and that's a good thing!

:)
Excellent points!

What a great idea!

Did anyone else get really mad at the Weaver's last night when they got to the mat and started crying and whining to Phil about how no one liked them and how they're just trying to be good Christians?

Last time I checked, "good Christians" don't throw trash onto a highway at another moving car, don't mock a hardworking man because they don't approve of his job (garbage collector) and don't talk to a team and then turn around and say "I hate them" (the Godlewski sisters at the race track). At least the other teams are up front about hating the Weavers. And the way they cornerd DJ Paolo about yielding them. The poor kid looked scared to death! And SOMEBODY needs to get some decent shorts on those girls before the FCC fines the show for indecent exposure. No one wants to see that. :hurl:

I really hope they don't win. I like all of the other teams. I don't even care who wins at this point; as long as it isn't the Weavers.

And you know what's really scary? The mother is an elementary school teacher! The woman thought Lake Ponchartrain was a Great Lake, thought DC was a state, and didn't know where Pennsylvania was. That's just scary.

I missed most of it last night - only saw the last 20 minutes or so. What kind of garbage did they throw?

PS: I kind of hated to see the Paolo's lose last night. They were getting more likable, sort of.

It looked like apple cores and other food items. A couple of them hit the Linzes' car. They were really being stupid. They could have caused an accident. You would think they would be more careful on the road, especially after what happened to their father

yeah, the weavers really took it up a notch last night. as the intensity of each week continues, it will be interesting to see how they react.

I am really starting to like the Linz family, the four of them seem to be having a grand ol' time. I like the other two teams too, Wally and the girls and the desperate housewives are enjoying themselves too.

Really, I would love to see those three teams (sans those undeserving Weavers) in the finals. I think it would be a good race!

My favorite team was eliminated last night!

I developed a little crush on "Little Paolo" last night while watching him fly the fighter plane (Ever since Hathaway Browne pilots have made me swoon...). It lasted until I looked at the official site and discovered.......

He's only 16.:zipit:

That's jailbait! I assumed he was older than that. He was a lot more mature than his brother. I'm sad they got voted out too. I thought they were funny, and as much as they fought, you could tell they really loved each other.

I'm most impressed with the Bransen family. I feel kinda sorry for the dad, who is now realizing that he can't keep up with his daughters.

How in the world could the Weavers look at the Utah landscape and call it "ugly"?!? I'm not a big fan of this team. In the previews for next week, they're telling the Linz family they wasted their Yield and would regret it. I could be wrong, but wasn't that the last Yield on the race? In other words, it would have been silly for the Linz family to not use it.

You're right. It was the last Yield on the race.

At this point I like all the teams but the Weaver's. I hope they can see why no one likes them when they watch the episodes. They have been the only team that has constantly trash talked all the other teams. The comment about hating Utah and yelling out the car window at the bikers was totally uncalled for.

And then proceeding to say that they were "the last nice family in the race."

I nearly wet myself when they weren't eliminated this week!:hurl:
