I went last week. It's a really cool thing they're doing. I usually work late on Wednesdays, so it's not something I can do often.

I have work, plus five lectures back to back on Wednesdays, so I know how you feel. Spring break is the only reason why I'm able to go on March 4th.

Thanks for responding.

Agree with you, Endor Sightseer.
Keep that Pixar stuff over at DCA...where it belongs and seems to *fit* better with that Parks theme.

Originally there was talk that DLRs version of *Paint The Night* was going to incorporate more Classic Disney and less emphasis on overused Pixar.
Still hoping that will be the case, although at this point it appears to be a near exact clone with all the same units plus a few recycled from Paris.

Too much Pixar. Needs more classic Disney. I know it's like a big thing at DL because of Cars Land at DCA, but does anyone really want to see a semi on Main Street?
The movie is called Cars so it should be no surprise about the semi. And it will be covered in lights. HKDL'S Cars unit moves really slow so no worries about semi speed. As the picture, I was expecting the full thing and not the blue tarp. It looks ugly!

Screamscape posted a rumor a few days ago that we won't be seeing any of the floats that were going to be recycled from Tokyo's Jubilation parade. It said they would instead be focusing on getting the current parade floats finished and prepped for their debut. Extremely disappointing if true.

Nothing is recycled from Paris. We know for sure that in addition to the HKDL lineup there will be a logo drum unit and a Frozen unit. Whether there's more than that is up for debate.

Also, Screamscape is not a reliable source.

Apologies, i had my parade references confused.
I meant to refer to the proposed recycled units from Tokyo's Jubilation, not Paris' Fantillusion.
The two names are similar, and i have had Fantillusion on the mind recently.

There was talk a while back about the Jubilation Pan unit being re-used for Disneyland's version of 'Paint The Night'.
Hopefully that is still a possibility?

To be completely honest, as eye catching as 'Paint The Night' is, it would have been nice to see Disneyland get it's very own original Parade instead of what is basically a recycled version from elsewhere.
For a milestone celebration like the 60th, it would have been even more epic to create something totally unique JUST for DLR.
Kind of like what happened during the 50th, with the fabulous and unique *Parade of Dreams*.
Take the 'Paint The Night' concept and 'customize' it more for the Disneyland setting.

Yes, i agree that if this turns out to be true it will indeed be a bit of a dissapointment.
I would rather see DLR get something 'special' for it's 60th, and more importantly, something special for the return of a Night Parade to the property.
Getting just a direct clone from another Park would be....well..as you said, dissapointing.

The two floats we know are being added will be nice, as GiveMeTheMusic mentioned in his post, but more would be welcome.
Switch out one of the Pixar units for a more 'Traditonal Disney' themed float and i think the balance might appear to be a better fit to the Disneyland Park setting.

Regardless of what ends up pacing the streets in Anaheim, it will be a fantastic additon to the entertainment schedule to have a Night Parade back on the roster.
Looking forward to seeing what the final outcome will be...and how it will look in the DL setting.

Mack the semi truck fits on Main Street USA just as much as Norwegian princesses on an iceberg, or psychedelic spinning mushrooms with a talking caterpillar, or a dragon from a 1978 movie no one remembers, or a 1950's hula hoop contest, or Herbie The Love Bug, or Disney characters sitting on a cloud pulled by a giant flying whale, or African animals and folk dancers, or pretty much any float from any parade that has travelled down that route since 1955. :D

Personally, I've always been jealous that Disneyland never had a float like this one from WDW in 1971, with groovy guys in polyester bell bottoms pretending to play electric guitars and out-of-sight girls in micro mini skirts shaking tamborines. Not fair!

And for those wondering about Steve Davison's rather breathless announcement that Paint The Night would feature Mickey on a "Drum Unit", that type of float has appeared at Disneyand since the early 1960's. It was a float copied in 1972 for the Electrical Parade. Kind of weird, but it worked, and became a reference point for Soundsational in 2012 and again for Paint The Night.

Here's Mickey at Disneyland on the first drum unit circa 1965.

The WOC viewing area is also recieving some strange new paint scheme. Not the best color choices IMO.

As stated earlier, what you were looking at was the base primer colors being applied. Kind of like what they are also doing to the Castle which caused a brief Pepto Pink Panic here.

Here's the primer colors you saw on a blog post a few weeks ago...

And here's the latest result after they gave it a color wash, added graining and contrast, and then distressed the final coat...
