The 60th Anniversary of Disneyland: The Reality of it All

MSEP was better before it was tampered with for the sake of 'upgrading'.
When Disney decided to change the original unique soundtrack to a horrendous 'modern reproduction' of that 70s score it went from a charming classic to a lesser teir in my mind.
The 'lighting upgrades' made to some of the floats also seemed a bit unessesary in my opinion.

I loved it back in the 80s and 90s.
I still love that parade, but it would be better if they just kept the classic soundtrack.

The current soundtrack used in MSEP is actually from Dreamlights.

Dreamlights is what WDW should have gotten. I actually would have been fine if they would have done it at DL. MSEP updated or more relevant for today's park visitors. Pretty amazing, beautiful floats.

It would be a great opportunity for WDW to make a new parade as a successor to Spectromagic but given the Dreamlights treatment for it's 50th Anniversary. Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Dreamlights even update the parade every few years by adding new and old floats. And Spectro even debuted for WDW's 20th back in 1991.

DF is very good but I have to agree with @Curious Constance . While DF is groundbreaking by using the park buildings and attractions as a canvas, it's not really about Disneyland which has been my biggest complaint from the start. Remember truly was a celebration of Disneyland, gave me goosebumps every time I saw it.

Agreed.

I can't exactly pinpoint what Forever's concept is. Remember's concept was quite obvious and quite fantastic.

Yes, Forever blows Remember out of the water in terms of technology and special effects, but the show really has nothing to do with the park itself. Seeing Forever the first time didn't make the same impact on me the way Remember did, something I'll never forget.

I think that when Disneyland creates a show/parade for it's parks, it has to be careful to create something that a general audience can relate to. Most visitors to the park aren't obsessed with the place and it's history, so creating a show/parade that is too specifically designed to pay tribute to it's history (WOC Celebrate) it falls flat with most people.

But Remember was the perfect combo of history and ride tributes, without it going over the heads of casual visitors.

Yeah...that's definitely better than Forever. I'd love it if they brought it back but with the projection technology from recent shows. I'd be one happy nerd if that happened.
Yeah, think about what they could do with the main street facades:
Star Wars Ships flying
A Pirate Battle
Doom Buggies rolling by
Tiki Birds everywhere
The Disneyland Railroad chugging along

Basically every parade or attraction they call out in the Fireworks show could be represented along the facades. I think it would blow the socks off a) the old Remember and b) the current DL Forever

I totally agree. Though tiki gods help me if the Mark Twain is projected while Julie Andrews narrates. I'd be a mess.

UGH! These ideas are making me so sad. Remember's concept does fit the 50th better than the 60th... It's a shame we didn't have Forever's technology in 2005. *sigh*

Yes
I think the opposite, actually.

Disneyland Forever has a more explosive finale but Remember was 17 minutes long, originally anyway, and didn't rely on projection mapping as a major show element. It was all fireworks.

Plus the hub perimeter launch sites were in use as well. I hope those are still in place for future use!

You used to get a taste of just this if you saw the show from in front of its small world. Footage of each attraction was projected on the facade. It was very nice!
