The 60th Anniversary of Disneyland: The Reality of it All

Certainly been an interesting day! IMO, I don't/won't believe this until we get some conformation from the Parks Blog on what's really ending on Sept. 5th(so far the rumors are the whole 60th campaign) besides Summer hours. If our insiders here more, then there's something to this!

There are mindless rumors going around Micechat and Twitter that both PTN and DL Forever will be permanately ending after the 60th ends. PTN will be shipped to WDW while we get their electrical parade. No replacement has been mentioned for DL Forever. This is being issued as a "cost cutting measure". I can't help but firmly believe that these are bogus, but still wanted to put these out there to share what's going on among the rumor mill.
But I don't want PTN at the Magic Kingdom if the rumor is true!

Does WDW have to build a new one if they don't trade?
Walt Disney World does build parades (Festival Of Fantasy) but they are prone to reusing old parade floats mainly reusing the Share A Dream Come True Parade floats for "Disney Dreams On Parade" and "Celebrate A Dream Come True Parade" and the old castle float which has been used for who knows how long.

I'm not going to lie. I would love it if DLR and WDW swapped parades. I haven't seen the parade since 96. MSEP should have one final run at DLR and retire where it started.

I respectfully disagree. MSEP should have no more runs. It's 44 years old and in embarrassing shape. It would also be a MAJOR downgrade for DL after PTN. WDW should put it out of its misery and then it should be lovingly destroyed for limited edition pins so that it can't inflict itself on Disney Parks anymore. It was better in 1996. Now it's just sad.

I haven't heard anything yet about these rumors. Forever closing doesn't seem far-fetched, but a PTN/MSEP swap does seem very far-fetched. I can't imagine DLR would be in any hurry to give up PTN after spending so much money on it and marketing it for over a year.

Well MKs 45th Ann. is coming up... And awhile back the Blog made note of the 45th saying to stay tuned for more info. Probably not related to these rumors though lol.

I may be looking back with rose colored glasses ( I was like 12 years old the last time I saw the parade ). But that MSEP intro and baroque hoedown are just classic. I'm a musical person so what really drew me to MSEP was the sound track. IMO that is where MSEP outshines PTN and that mediocre pop song playing over and over again. As far as visuals I could see how PTN could be more dynamic but I would have to see MSEP in person again to really judge.

As far as the rumor it does seem highly unlikely.

WDW taking PTN shouldn't come as a surprise, if it happens. PTN was there to help DL celebrate its 60th and soon it could help WDW celebrate its Anniversary.

Disneyland Forever is stupendous. As long as you watch it from Main Street that is. Combined with PTN there's nothing like it anywhere.
DF is very good but I have to agree with @Curious Constance . While DF is groundbreaking by using the park buildings and attractions as a canvas, it's not really about Disneyland which has been my biggest complaint from the start. Remember truly was a celebration of Disneyland, gave me goosebumps every time I saw it.
