If only the snow castle looked that nice in real life. I'm so grateful for the diamond bling this year, because it means I won't be subjected to that hideous snow castle overlay.
I'm hoping that its absence this year gives them an opportunity to reimagine it for 2016's or even 2017's holiday season. At night, it looks quite gorgeous, but it still could use some work. Especially in the daytime. One can only hope.

It looks beautiful all lit up. The problem with that is that they insist on doing those bizarre show moments with it so it's only lit up for a small portion of the night. Most of the night it's not completely lit, just sitting there being wasted. During the day it looks so unbelievably tacky, like Christmas vomited all over it. I'd sacrifice the pretty lights for the castle looking presentable for the majority of time guests are looking at it.

The original WOC included an Alice segment that was just as long as say, the Mermaid segment, as well as a short Hercules segment. Those were deleted and the order of scenes changed significantly. If you listen to the original score for the show (search on YouTube) you can hear how the show was SUPPOSED to go and it flows so much better.

I don't know if Iger axed Alice because it's an older film. I've heard that before but don't know where it came from or if it's true. I just know at the last-ish minute Iger personally intervened to change the original show. He has a lot of experience in water shows. *eyeroll*
I knew about the Alice segment being cut. But I had no idea there was a Hercules segment! I would have loved to see how that played out since Hercules' score is my favorite music from any Disney film

I also really enjoyed the original Winter Dreams, and if you listen to audio of the original original version, it would have been incredible! Then last year, execs ruined Winter Dreams by making it the Frozen show. I like Frozen, believe me I actually do.... But it really had no place having that much feature time...

It's very brief, but if you locate the original score on YouTube you'll definitely hear it. It's next to the Aladdin segment, which was much shorter at the time.

Winter Dreams 1.0 is my favorite WOC show. The original theme music is so great, and having Heather Headley sing the entire show was absolutely inspired. The only thing I like about WD 2.0 is that the Toy Story Nutcracker was shortened. It went on too long in the original.

I love Olaf and he's is one of my favorite Disney sidekicks. But seriously after the movie he's been getting more and more annoying with every thing he's shoehorned in. And like you said he's the reason why I couldn't enjoy WD last year.
Also I'm upset they cut Glow. It's such a beautiful Choir piece and it was composed by Eric Whitacre!

I loved Winter Dreams when it came out a month before Frozen. Only only scene had "Let It Go" and that was it. This was way before Disney knew how popular Frozen would become.

Does anyone know what is being built next to the Mickey and Friends parking structure? Here is a picture of the construction.

I think what bugs me a lot too about it, is the lack of force perspective to match the castle. Each icicle is the same length on each turrent, it throws it off a lot. The garland they put over the drawbridge is hideous also.

Yup. It disregards the basic design principles of the castle in addition to being ugly.

Just saw Winter Dreams for this year on youtube... I have to say, No improvement. They are now showing 2 bad WOC shows.
I think WOC-C! should be the first one of the night. For DCA to be that Lazy and NOT put the opening song back in Winter Dreams AGAIN! is mind blowing to me!!! I don't say too much about too much Frozen.....great movie and the score is perfect for theme parks. But Do you want to build a snowman is NOT better than Dreams of Winter or Christmas Wishes at TDS which is where the song came from.
