looks like they toned down women’s beach volleyball. i noticed they’re wearing less revealing outfits now. although i like watching volleyball, my wife isn’t buying that’s why i liked to watch women’s beach volleyball 😇
Actually, it depends upon the countries. The U.S. is one of the teams I saw that toned down their outfits this time. But if you look at the beach volleyball match from Germany and France, their outfits are revealing.

Edit: I just saw a different match from (a different U. S. team, versus Czechoslovakia) and this team chose to wear the more bikini style. The Czech women wore leggings. So I guess it just comes down to the individual athletes, as to what style they want to wear.

The next to nothing wear is when we watched mens water polo. Those Speedos are a few sizes too small for those guys.

Opening Ceremony was, underwhelming at best. The last few minutes were the best with the light show and of course Celine Dion. Very big mistake not to have this in an arena or stadium and not just because of the weather.
I loved a lot of it (Celine, the headless Marie Antoinette’s, the heavy metal band with fire, the people on poles, the Eiffel Tower lights, etc), didn’t like some parts of it (I missed the traditional parade of nations), and was disappointed by the more controversial parts (will leave it at that to avoid creating a political discussion).

Not the worst opening ceremony I’ve ever seen but definitely not the best either. I spent much of it wondering what the people in the stands could actually see, 75% of it seemed prerecorded, and it was extremely spread out, so unless they had screens set up everywhere most the people who saw it live probably missed 95% of the show.

That's a good point -- I hadn't thought about the spectators' sometimes limited view along that long route. I think that watching the opening ceremony on TV, might have actually turned out to be a better option for those of us (who could not attend in person) -- as the cameras could zoom in to all the various details along the route.

Watching womens BMX. They literally took a point away from the Australian girl after she did a back flip AND a front flip in her 2nd run.

When does break dancing start?
This is why I prefer the Winter Olympics, I was channel surfing the other day and on the 4 channels showing the Olympic the options were skateboarding, fencing, horse jumping, and handball… all were somewhat interesting for about 5 minutes before I started channel surfing again. The summer Olympics feels about 50% sports and 50% hobbies.

Here you go -- August 9 and 10.

(TIMES LISTED FOR Eastern U.S. time):

From the official Olympics schedule (1st link below), it looks like the Breaking is scheduled:

August 9th: WOMEN: 10:00 AM; then at 2:00 PM, 2:45 PM, and lastly, 3:15 PM, for the finals.

August 10th: MEN: 10:00 AM; then at 2:00 PM, 2:45 PM, and lastly, at 3:15 PM for the finals.

No desire to watch, what hey call sports is more entertainment than sport
Out of curiosity, if I'm home at one of the scheduled times for Breaking, I'll definitely tune in to watch some of it. (Although, I'm sure it won't replace my favorite Summer Olympic sports -- gymnastics and swimming! :))

Reminds me a little of 2020, when skateboarding was first introduced to the Summer Olympics. Back then, I wasn't thrilled that the sport was added; but I saw some of the competitions, and I actually enjoyed it. (Similarly, back in 1998, at the Winter Olympics, snowboarding was added. I'm a lifelong fan of skiing and figure skating, but I still watched a bit of the snowboarding. Surprisingly, I liked that, too.)

Back in the day I really enjoyed the medal ceremony and at times the tears of the medal winners when the national anthem of the gold medal winner was played. Strange that the TV coverage does not even show that this time around.

My hunch is that they're not showing every award ceremony, but will show some of them (perhaps for the higher viewer sports). Again, just a hunch. There are many more days ahead in the schedule, so we shall see.

It's because 90% of it is being shown on Peacock. There's events I wanted to see that weren't airing on television unless you randomly came across it or were up at the buttcrack of dawn to see it live.

China mens has been a number of golds in swimming with some of the athletes testing positive in recent non Olympic races. Let’s see if they test clean this time around.
