The 2013 Oscars Thread!

They were discussing the Oscars last night on CNN, and speculating how there could quite possible be more "surprises" this year than in year's past. Definitely good/close lineup's in all major categories.
My aunt just said to me that Life of Pi would win. What if it did?

lol Then she & you would be un-surprised.

I'm guessing either Life of Pi, Django Unchained, or Lincoln for best picture.
I saw on tv about a half hour ago that argo had a 86% chance to win, but Lincoln only had 11%!

But I still think Lincoln will win

Argo is certainly in the best position to take home the big prize. If there's a "surprise" win, though, I think it'd come down to Lincoln or Silver Linings Playbook.

Same here. Between hunting vampires, getting a new NatGeo documentary, and hitting the Oscars full force, it's been an eventful past year for good ole Abe. Coming home tonight with a lot of gold would only be fitting.

Here's the full list of Best Picture odds:
(Source: http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/envelope/moviesnow/la-et-mn-oscar-odds-20130222,0,3925245.story )

Argo: 1 to 2
Lincoln: 9 to 5
Les Miserables: 30 to 1
Silver Linings Playbook: 35 to 1
Zero Dark Thirty: 40 to 1
Amour: 75 to 1
Life Of Pi: 100 to 1
Django Unchained: 125 to 1
Beasts Of The Southern Wild: 250 to 1

Looking at who they nominated it seems like they were prepared for Lincoln to take the big prize. Usually not getting a best director nomination is not a good sign that you will win Best Picture. But, all the backlash against them for snubbing Ben Affleck for director and Argo winning every other award out there probably changed their plans.

I would not be surprised if they give it to Lincoln though. It just seems tailor made for Oscar voters.

I wish Zero Dark Thirty had more of a chance to win something, but its award chances seem dead. I liked Silver Linings Playbook and Jennifer Lawrence did a great job, but it just doesn't seem like an award worthy role. I hope Chastain gets a surprise win over her.

In my perfect world, Les Mis would win everything.

With that being said..
Best Picture will probably go to Argo
Hathaway will take Best Supporting Actress
Best Actress to Jennifer Lawrence
