The “We're big girls now!" "No seriously does ANYONE have a bobby pin?!” June 2012 Trip Report

Jaamboo everyone and welcome to my very first ever trip report!

This trip took place from Monday, June 18th-Saturday, June 23rd. I did write a PTR which you can read here if you really want.. http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/senior-trip-2012-2-years-in-the-making-ptr.831186/

This trip was a high school graduation celebration that we thought of when we were only sophomores in high school. We never actually thought we’d follow through with the plans or that it would ever happen, but look at that.. 3 years have come and gone and we’re already back from our vacation.. I guess that’s good because it shows that we’ve stayed close friends

Now, like I said, this is the first trip report that I’ve written so please excuse my newbie storytelling/pictures and sorry in advance for any spelling/grammatical errors..
With that being said I really hope you all enjoy my trip report and have as much fun reading about our trip as I will reminiscing about it!

A quick hop skip and a jump and we were passing by this pretty sign!

This picture was actually taken on the last day, hence the clouds.... I guess I was just too excited when we arrived to snap a pic?!

This is when it got exciting and weird at the same time.... I ACTUALLY HAD TO CHECK US IN! After all these years of just getting to goof around and watch Disney cartoons with the little kids and my brother while my parents checked in, I was the one having to go do it!

Luckily, everything went well with check in and we were placed in this most glorious section..


At first we had requested a room in the 90s because we’re 90s babies so we thought that’d be rather fitting. Also, the past couple of times I’ve stayed at POP I was in the 90s section and liked how it was the closest section (with a pool) to the buses and food court. Unfortunately, if we wanted to get into a room (which we really wanted to considering how early we had been up) we could only get into a 50s room. Now if any of you are familiar with the 50s you know that it is probably the farthest section from the buses/food, etc and we got stuck in THE FARTHEST room possible. It was in the last building of the 50s and we were all the way in the corner, right by the lake with the construction of the new Little Mermaid rooms at the AoA visible outside our door. At first I wasn’t sure if we’d want to walk that far everyday, so we thought about going back to change, but when we really thought about it we were like “Hey we’re 18 and young, we have energy, and the walking will probably do us good after all this eating we’ll be doing.” So we decided to stay in our room! It was probably for the better because we really didn’t have any neighbors to bother with our 12am or later giggles.... Hey I said we’re still young 18 year old princesses right?

Ok so enough with my room rant we had a 1:30pm ADR for my favorite restaurant EVER.. Le Cellier

Sorry 1 more quick story, this ties into the title of this TR. So while we were freshening up for lunch we all noticed that because of the humidity our hair looked like wrecks. This is where the whole bobby pin part comes in.. We all wanted to pull our bangs back, but when we asked “Does anyone have bobby pins?” we all had the same response “No, sorry I have them in my check-in luggage!” Of course we had just arrived so our luggage was not in our room yet. We all remembered to bring a change of clothes and such, but none of us remembered bobby pins! We were getting so annoyed with our hair that me and Jill joked about buying the barrettes with the Mickey heads on them once we got to EPCOT! Haha!

It is so fun to see Disney from the air! Yeah that's true they could take different ways? That was my first time seeing the whole resort from the air. Do you live in Philly?
I am so sorry I was moving them into separate albums on Photobucket to make it easier to keep track of them, but silly me messed it all up on here! They should be back up though. Sorry again!

First thing I noticed when I walked by the bathroom area in our room was the new shampoo bottles! I know that shows that I’ve been to Disney way too many times to notice that little of a thing.. Aren’t the little Mickey ears cute though?!

I also COULD NOT believe my eyes when I saw this on the dresser by the bed!

Now I’m sure the free wifi in hotel rooms was probably discussed on the boards, but I had been so busy in the months leading up to this trip that I didn’t even notice if it was talked about.. Sorry I should probably be more observant next time! Haha!

EPCOT HERE WE COME!

That was another first (in awhile) for me. Taking the buses! Now I know having the free DME and the free buses to take you around sounds great and it is nice to not have to worry about driving while on vacation, but our bus service was pretty bad on this stay. It wasn’t just me either the other girls agreed. I think every bus that we waited for took 20+ minutes. Is that usually the norm? I guess it just felt long to me because for the longest time my parents have rented a car and it just felt so much nicer to just get in the car and go. I kept thinking the whole time we waited in line for the bus to EPCOT that “We could’ve been there and in the park by now if we had a car..” Ok I’m sorry I guess I’m just a little impatient..

Another thing you realize when you utilize the buses is how big the parking area is at the parks. I had no clue EPCOT had allll that space back there for bus stops..

We eventually did make it to EPCOT though!

Our first stop was over to pay a visit to Figment!

So they have a new thing at the end of the ride where you can “Make Your Own Figment”

On our way to Canada we saw the new Brave setup.

I wanted to stop and try some archery, but I had a nice filet calling my name!

We decided we’d get in the Canadian mood by stopping in the Northwest Mercantile first!

Yup we’re 18 and graduated....

FINALLY the time had arrived to go in and eat!

Mhhmm warm bread.. Pretzel was of course our favorite We wanted to ask for a doggie bag of it. Haha!

Jamie ended up getting the filet with mac n’ cheese. Annie and Jill got the New York Strip Steak with cream cheese potatoes. I got the filet as well, but with the cream cheese potatoes! We all LOVED our lunches!

I was on cloud 9 with every bite....

Close-up time! Ok I know this picture is terrible, but can’t you just imagine the taste?! Is your mouth watering yet....

My traditional “Look mom I finished my WHOOLLE plate it was THAT good” picture.

This was Jill and Annie’s dessert. I can’t remember the name and can’t find it on AllEars which is where I usually look at the menus. If anyone knows please help me out! I had a bite of Jill’s and it was delicious! If they still have this next time I go I’m definitely getting it!

Meanwhile, Jamie and I had the very delicious Creme Brulee. I can’t get enough of that hard, sugary, maple topping! We all got a “Congratulations” written on white chocolate with our desserts!

Our waitresses name was Nicole and she was awesome! I forget exactly from where in Canada she was from, but I do remember that she was not a fan of hockey! The 4 of us prepared for battle while we asked the question (being diehard Blackhawks fans we were all crossing our fingers hoping she wasn’t a Canuck’s fan!). She said she would definitely be a fan of a Canadian team if she liked hockey, but it really wasn’t her thing. We could respect that.. we just figured it was like living in America and not liking it’s pastime, baseball! Haha! She was great though. So Nicole if you’re out there, THANK YOU!

Here’s where we encountered our one (and thankfully only) rude and obnoxious family out of all the sit down meals we had.. So there was a mom, dad, brother and sister. Well the brother and sister did not want to cooperate at all throughout their meal and the parents either didn’t want to control them or when they did they screamed their conversations. Um hello we’re in a cellar! Are you sure you’re in the right place? Every time they screamed or complained and the parents screamed back Nicole would look over at us and Jill, being Jill, would ask “WHAT’S GOING ON?!” Haha! It was funny to see our waitress have the same expressions as us on the whole ordeal, but that’s what made it cool because we felt like she was one of us, ya know? At one point the dad screams “Do you need to go to the hospital?!” I guess Annie said it was because the little girl was complaining about stubbing her toe. At the same time the parents were ordering glowtini’s.. Yup time to go!

Thank you Le Cellier for making our tummies full and happy! You never disappoint!

This picture was cool.. until I saw the cute little couple keeping each other up on the right hand side. Jill thought it was “cute”, but I’ll let you guys be the judge. Haha!

So after Le Cellier we started the trek all the way back to the bus stop.. Haha! The girls were asking me why Pop Century is always the last and/or the farthest away bus stop at the parks. They thought since it’s a value it should be closer because a lot of people stay there? I was thinking maybe because it IS a value that all the more expensive resorts get first priority and closer stops? I don’t know, but it wasn’t that bad except for the first day because we were still acclimating to the humidity. Boy that was not a fun stop to wait at.. We were all getting very antsy to get back and rest before our EMH til 1am at Hollywood Studios!

This was how we felt after being up and gogogoing since 2am AND with yummy steak in our stomachs.

We got back to POP around 4 pm and our luggage had magically appeared in our room so we got all of our stuff unpacked and put away. AND we were FINALLY able to pull our hair back with the most coveted bobby pins that had now arrived!

We decided that we would feel a lot more refreshed and energized for that night if we took a nap. So we napped until 7 and then went down to fill up our reusable mugs that we had picked up in the food court when we arrived.

While there we decided we would all get a healthy snack. I got pineapple chunks, Jamie got apple slices with caramel, Jill got watermelon chunks, and Annie got celery sticks & carrots with ranch.

I was oo soo tempted to get this most beloved rice krispie treat, but I already had my “healthier” snack picked out. I always get one of these on my trips, but sadly I never got the chance to eat one on this trip....

We found a nice umbrella to sit underneath overlooking the main Hippy Dippy pool.

Before I forget.. Ok so I love trying on all kinds of Disney hats and I found this beauty while at EPCOT.

That’s right it’s a Grumpy hat complete with a built in beard and all!

We started to head towards our bus stop at about 8:45pm for a late, magical night at Hollywood Studios!

So we arrived at Hollywood Studios and what’s the first thing I do? I hugged a palm tree. Yup, that’s right, I loovve my palm trees and I thought I should take a picture with one since I took one just like this a couple years ago at the Polynesian. Sorry you can tell I was a little slap happy.. Haha!

Since the park was still kind of full we hit up some of the shops! Not before getting some pictures in front of the hat though! A Photopass photographer captured some good pictures for us, but I have yet to purchase any of those photos. If I do I will definitely post them here!

So I tweeted this picture to Bryan Bickell (Blackhawks player) because we’ve talked before over Twitter so I thought he would like that I brought his shirt to Florida with me! I got no response though.. O well better luck next time!

So this next picture may not look real, but I warn you this is an actual bug in with these glasses. It was actually alive and moving too! No clue how it got in there.. YUCK!
