Greetings to all. A couple of years ago, I posted a Thanksgiving thread that asked everyone to say what they were thankful for. I would like to do that again this year. And here it is.
Please take a moment to think about it, and post what you are thankful for this year.
I know that for me, it has been a very rough and challenging year; but I taught my Sunday School class on Sunday that it is good to be thankful during even the rough times. And it was rough for me this year, at least for a while.
For me this year, my father passed away (February), and on top of that I had to wrestle with the life insurance company for months concerning my mother's mortgage when questions arose. But in the end, they decided to pay, and for that we are fortunate. More important, though, my father was a man who really loved his family, and provided the best role model a son could know. I was fortunate enough to get common sense in the last few years and spend more time with him on things he enjoyed (we even got to go to Nashville on a guys' bluegrass trip!), before he passed away.
Now, though, as the holidays approach, we can see good and the legacy of faith that my father has left us. It will probably be emotion-filled at some points, but I can already see much that he would want us to remember at this time.
I have a new church and a staff leadership position (as a youth director) with enthusiastic friends there; and my nephew is almost 2 - and providing the family with a lot of joy -- just as his mom is about to have another one!
And I am thankful for my friends online, as well.
So, this Thanksgiving, and every day, I have much to thank God for, even when sometimes I have trouble keeping that in mind!
I would love to hear your own contributions.
Paul
