EPCOT Test Track to be reimagined

I don't dislike either of the first two iterations of the ride as such, though I struggle to imagine it would be a headliner if, for example, it was in Tomorrowland rather than Epcot. Maybe it's just me, but I've always felt that it has been so popular at Epcot kind of by default as the attraction that best approximated a family-friendly thrill ride at a park that has been generally thin on attractions for much of the time since TT opened. I don't think anyone has been clamouring for it to be cloned at any of the other resorts.

Hopefully they can elevate it with the new version.

I liked 1.0 decently enough, although it was certainly nowhere near as good as World of Motion.

I've never been on 2.0. I think I was only at WDW maybe three times while it was actually open/operating, and never rode for whatever reason.

I thought both versions were fine. I guess maybe the aesthetics of 2.0 were more appealing, but the whole 'design a car' conceit honestly seemed a little like busy work to me as everyone still got into the same car at the end of it!

You don't consider Spaceship Earth a classic?
Portions are, including the rickety ride system. Like Test Track, much has been updated so often that the overall experience doesn’t reach “classic” to me though many scenes in the first half definitely reach that status. All a matter of opinion, though. LwtL, for me, has done the best job at sticking to its original vision and aging like fine wine. I love SSE, but that descent has aged like milk in the Florida sun.

Actually, the only thing about 2.0 I’ll truly miss is the queue music. 1.0’s music gave me a headache.
I heard the 1.0 music more while playing the Walt Disney World Quest: Magical Racing Tour than I did when standing in line.

I remember seeing a movie called ultimate Walt Disney World learning about the original and when I rode the ride for the first time being disappointed with the 2012 one and then I was disappointed again when the car I designed wasn’t the car we rode in

Like with any other preshow you were still gonna wait in line the same amount of time, they just gave you something to do here. I get the whole “everyone gets in the same car” thing, but your designs still follow you through the tests (if the syncing worked on whatever given day lol). I think it was a fun and really under appreciated gimmick

We always enjoyed the design your car part - fun comparing each other's designs and of course the kids trying to make some pretty extreme versions and just laughing about it

Definitely wish the syncing worked more reliably or just what you designed impacted the ride experience more (like if you picked more traction vs power those segments would vary) so payoff was but if a let down, but something fun to do as a "preshow" element

Neither version fo TT was a favorite/must do, but hoping 3.0 build off what is good about the ride system but adds in some touches from WoM

To be honest, I've never understood the love for TT. It's fine, I'll ride it when I'm there, but every time I do I just wish World of Motion was still there instead. TT isn't really very thrilling; it's not really any different than riding in a convertible on the freeway (which I don't like with my hair whipping in my face and getting all tangled) except for the banked turn, and the inside part just feels kinda half-assed and slapdash. I kinda dig the Tron-y vibe but I'd rather see some AAs. I'm hoping that 3.0 brings something more interesting to it.

Fully agree. I think it is a fine ride. Prior to 2.0's closure, it had quickly become a part of a small number of attractions that I don't hate but didn't feel the need to ride every trip (Star Tours being the other). The comparison between those two: the charm and quirk of them left after both received their respective overhauls.

I only experienced World of Motion a handful of times, but man do I wish an experience like that was still in place. If they can instill a quirky, optimistic, futurist take WoM vibe on top of the Test Track ride layout....it'll be a win. Very much excited for 3.0.

Yeah, the descent is bad, but basically everything leading up to it is great (scene wise, the narration is its own thing). Since it's so long, it can get away with a bad section that would be killer on a shorter attraction.

It's still the best ride at EPCOT to me (nothing else is really even close, although I do love LwtL) even with the awful descent.

I’ve tried to spice up the descent for myself by counting all the beautiful triangles.
