Update on what I've heard...

-Briefing rooms look brand new with new wallpaper, carpeting, and flat screen tvs. The one in the middle is large (from what I could gather, plasma?) and the other 2 surrounding are smaller.
-New paint everywhere. The entire station, ride interior, queue, outside of the building, etc.
-New carpet in the post show.
-New cash registers.
-New lighting effects in the ride and handling.
-No cone effect in the Non-ABS test. :(
-No crash car effect.
-Overall ride cleaning.
-A functioning air conditioner.

That's pretty much all I got thats worth mentioning. The place really needed a refurb. Before it went down, it looked HORRIBLE! Glad to see the place getting the tlc it deserves and looking show quality again.

the audio sounded great in the cars, however the displays didin't even come on. and the crash car effect is there. they just made it look like you just missed it. you hear the crash and as you turn the corner you see the car shake a bit.

That effect has been in place since before the refurb.

Didn't hear anything about the video... Forgot to ask. Hope all the audio in the cars work! Ever been on that ride without the audio?! :snore:

Well I got to ride it this morning and things looked pretty good. I was in briefing room 1 and although there were new TV's they were not flat panel/plasma. The room looked great though. There is some new lighting in the ride most noticeable are some projections on the first incline that look great. As you said the cones were not working but the air was. Overall the ride looks great. 1 of the screens in my car worked the other did not.

maybe that part of AK was already a parking lot and came up with that idea instead of tearing it apart???????????????

Nope. The parking lot was built specificaly for Dinorama.

Went on Test Track tonight. I got a Fast Pass, but when I came back the FP line was out of the building. I jumped into the single rider line, then the ride broke down for about 15 mins. The only things I noticed (not a huge Test Track fan, don't go on very often) were the new TV's (flat but not plasma), the old man screeming into his cell phone during the pre-show, and the projections on the first incline. Other than that it looked pretty much the same.

Those cones in the non-ABS braking section have been down for quite some time. I would've hoped that they would've found a way to fix them during this rehab.

What are the projections you speak of...not so much where but what. I haven't gotten the chance to ride it.
I believe they indicated the height you were at on the incline.

They've always been there... They're just a little brighter now. It's the "test" circle that can be found a few other places in the building... yellow-black-black-yellow design.

So the audio and video on the cars was not fixed during this rehab? That's horrible! I would think that would be the first thing they'd want to fix. I was on it a bunch of times the day before it went down for rehab, and each time my car had some defect, no audio/no video/faulty video/horribly miscolored video, etc. The audio and video are practically essential to the ride, or how would people know what was going on?

The Audio seemed to be working great when I was on it. The video on the screen in front was working perfectly but the screen in the back was not working at all.

Wow. They must be much brighter now. I never remember seeing them. I thought they looked great.

I certainly hope the audio was working...

The past three times I've ridden test track the monitors in the cars have been defunct, and the audio narration would repeatedly loop "Alright....Alright...Alright..." until the end when it finally got back to "thanks for being a great test crew. Come back and ride anytime. Bye."

Believe me, the ride feels much less fun when there's no "engine reving" noises.

It has always amazed me the difficulty of which Disney has had keeping a ride like Test Track online. On the surface, it seems simple, but when you begin to think about it, it becomes clear that using "real" cars as ride vehicles isn't the greatest idea.

Who would have thought the engineering to make 2 cones collapse every 30 seconds would be so insurmountable. We can put a man on the moon, but 2 fake cones collapsing...too difficult.:p
