This really doesn't have anything to do with Test Track, but if it appears to be a carnival ride area, then they did their job perfectly. That's exactly how they wanted it to look; you can even see the parking spaces on the ground, making it appear like it was setup in a parking lot. Very creative in my opinion.

I never even noticed the parking spaces on the ground! Now I'm gonna have to look when I go back! :D

And just remember that Test Track was and still is a one-of-a-kind attraction. No other attraction is remotely like it in its design and function, so it makes sense to have had as many problems as they have.

You forgot about Journey to the Center of the Earth. :drevil:

Yep. They even put cracks and gum spots. :)

I'm not familiar with Journey to the Center of the Earth...does it have a ride system similar to TT's (aka, individually controlled cars with onboard computers and multiple speeds, stops, etc)?

Yep except it's a whole lot better. The theming is one of the best you'll ever see, and the queue is comparable to DisneySea's Indy's which I consider the best queue. There's even a sudden and steep drop out of a volcano!

I just wanted to add my .02. I was at TT last night around 6:30 and the walls were still up and there was a painter outside the entrance repainting the yellow stripes on the wall. So it should look all nice and pretty for the opening today...:sohappy:

LOL! I was just going to add that same thing... I went there with my girlfriend for Valentine's... we originally had reservations for Tony's at MK but decided to walk around our favorite park instead... We were hoping to possibly get a 'test' ride on TT but the walls were up and no cars were going on the track... oh well... still had a fun night and we'll have to go back this weekend or something to 'test' out the improved version...

I just looked it up on Laughing Place. How did I miss THIS? It does use the same technology. Looks like they've improved said technology as well. It didn't say, but when did Journey open? And hopefully, they are using their new knowledge having two attractions like Test Track and have improved TT's software.

They must have done it right the first time over there, because from what I understand they have never had nearly the amount of problems we've had here with TT.

That might be a good thing...hopefully this rehab included an upgrade using practices similar to the ones used in Journey.

Anyone know when Journey opened?

Pretty sure it officially opened same day as the park on September 4th, 2001.

Well I just got back from Epcot, and TT did in fact reopen today. Unfortunatly it has been having problems throughout the day and was down at least twice. At about 11 the line was at 60 minutes I got a FP but the ride was down again when I returned.

From what I've been told, the building looks GREAT. I hear its like a brand new building again with all new paint, resurfaced track, and flat screen tv's in the queue and briefing rooms. Anyone have pictures despite its downtimes??

I couldn't get inside so I don't know about the tv's, and resurfaced track but the exterior looked good. You could tell the front wall was repainted and looked like they replaced the mirrors in the front that show you the car on the loop.

Yup!... They even repainted the posts in which the track is on. A great deal of work went into this rehab. I cant wait to see it!

Bets on barrier test #1 being reinstated? Or the pyro effect in the semi tunnel?

So long as the ABS test traffic cones are all standing then...

What's this pyro you speak of?
There used to be some sparks on the left of the car so it seemed like you actually brushed sides with the front of the truck. My guess is too many people could not keep "hands, arms, feet and legs inside the vechile", so it was done away with....or it could have just stopped working.

Return of the crash car is doubtful. It'd be nice to see back again, but from what I heard, it was a big pain.

Im keeping my fingers crossed with the cones.

In the semi scene, there used to be sparks that went up on the passenger side of the car making it seem as though the car had hit the barrier.
