Well Test Track is suppose to reopen from its long rehab tomorrow. Anybody going to head over to Epcot tomorrow to see how the ride looks and what changes were made? A report would be greatly appreciated by everybody on this board.

I can tell you one thing about it already from being backstage...something to hold you over until you see it tomorrow. :)

The track has been changed. It now has a black asphault look to give it more of a real track look. I'll save the other neat things for everyone to experience and post here for themselves (most of which are just minor tweaks and repairs). Make sure you take photos for those who won't be able to make it to the world for a while! :)

The different tracks... I know one track is a uphill zigzag around corners. What is the other one?

A path to Maintenance...

Anyone thinking of going tomorrow...DON'T. It's not scheduled to reopen until Wednesday. Us Space folk have had the honor of standing in front of Track and being the bearers of bad news by repeating that line over and over :). They've been cycling cars yesterday and today, but keep your fingers crossed that some of the kinks they've been having will be worked out and the ride will be semi-reliable come Wednesday.

Before anyone heads out to Epcot to see Test Track tomorrow--- Please keep in mind it is not scheduled to reopen until Wednesday the 15th

Anyway, I can confirm that a lot of work has gone on backstage during this rehab- on the track, cars, and a whole lot of paint has been applied to everything. It looks great... If the interior of the attraction has gotten anywhere near the same amount of TLC as the exterior, I'll definitely consider this one a worth-while rehab.

*edit- MrNonacho beat me to it!

test track was a distaster waiting to happen since it's inception. it's never worked right for long. heck it took it at least a years after its' original opening date to open.

This rehab also included a very large software update, probably why they are cycling a lot to make sure the ride takes the software OK.

On the track being "new" black asphalt - this happens every time they resurface it. The wear and tear on it from the vehicles, florida sun, etc.. changes it to the greyish color we commonly see it as.

Yes, true, but it is one of the first immediate noticable changes...this one is a little different though. I don't ever remember it being this black, even on the day it opened, though that could be my memory acting up. And just remember that Test Track was and still is a one-of-a-kind attraction. No other attraction is remotely like it in its design and function, so it makes sense to have had as many problems as they have. That sucker is highly sophisticated. Hopefully if a new software upgrade was on the todo list, it is one that fixes a lot of kinks.

And yes, I did fail to remember that tomorrow (today) is the 14th, not the 15th, so TT will not be open until at least Wednesday, the 15th.

This really doesn't have anything to do with Test Track, but if it appears to be a carnival ride area, then they did their job perfectly. That's exactly how they wanted it to look; you can even see the parking spaces on the ground, making it appear like it was setup in a parking lot. Very creative in my opinion.

Back to the topic though...let us know if you make it by and get to ride Test Track tomorrow. If testing went well today, it should make schedule and be open tomorrow. Make sure to take your camera!
