Test Track or Tron Track?

I have just seen the conception photos of the revamp of Test Track. To me, it looks like the whole thing is going to revolve around Tron-like visuals.

Is this a good thing or not?

Personally, whilst I though the original looked good, it could use a minor revamp, it was good enough as it was.

Personally I don't like the look of the new TT, I preferred the old one, although I agree it needed work, I don't like the futuristic look at all :(

From what Trevor Bryant, the creative producer for new TT (and who also put Horizons together :sohappy:) said about the project is that it represents the future of automotive design. So, they're going from a safety aspect of vehicles to what future automotive design can do for your vehicle. The ride dynamics and track are supposed to stay the same.

Yes it will be a little Tron-esc, but that's cool! It is Future World after all...Here's to the future!

We wanted Epcot Center back, this is a good start and test track will probably be the most futureistic upgrade since 1983 LOL. What's there to complain about?

Spoiler alert for me but I'm very happy hear the new theme. Hope they keep The theme up for the waiting que to help speed up wait times!

I abhorred the loud, ugly, industrial Test Track. So I prefer Tron Track. Why, I would've preferred 'Pocanhontas' Forest Track' over TT.

But what I really hope for, is that the new visuals harken back to an ancient mirage, that of CenterCore: http://youtu.be/AM2QAT_WjkE?t=21m27s

I get the feeling that 'Tron' is just a label added on for want of a proper term for 'fluorescent colour palette and an inside-the-computer theme'.
I hope that the real influence is the full aesthetic tradition of Chevrolet-Disney futurism, from its sponsorship of EPCOT to Tronnish commercials.

To me, the spirit of Epcot/EPCOT Center is just as much about a "look" or aesthetic as it is about a theme. There's something visually which ties the classic parts of Epcot together, and this new Test Track looks to be much, much more in line with that than the original ever was.

The bright side is it isn't called Tron Track and isn't based on Tron. Black Lights wouldn't be the worse thing in the world for some scenes. If they have a bunch of lights built into the scenery you know they will start to fall apart within the next 2 years and they will leave it untouched until the lighting effects are half working. Black Lighting is low matenence and easy to fix and they can keep up the lighting without dismantling the scenery causing the ride to close down or the scenery to be left as it until next scheduled refurbishment. Just my opinion. Im not saying use it everywhere but internal lighting is only nice for a while until something breaks.

Absolutely OK by me.
I considered the old TT one of the most boring rides in EPCOT (Oh yeah, it goes really fast at the end, big deal...) so I welcome nearly every change. I did it only twice, one for riding and one for filming and wouldn't even do it again if it was a mere walk-on like JII. Only the present incarnation of JII is worse (Yes, even Gran Fiesta Tour is better IMHO).
Of course we only get a big reimaging and refurbishment while DCA gets the RADIATOR SPRING RACERS with the same technology on an advanced level but I am glad about alomst every change done there. As Martin already said, it's a step forward to an again futuristic Future World (after all that was the idea from the beginning on), I hated the boring industrial look (I have that in any car repair center) and the new design is definitely an improvement.
I know that many fans despise the "Pixarification" but I would have preferred a "Cars"-element in the ride or even an, already mentioned, REAL "TRONification", TRON attraction in EPCOT.

How sad.

Fans talking about Disney, who should be the best in the world at what they do, and this is all we've come to expect.

Better go low rent and as simple as possible....we know they'll never fix a busted light.

Blink, blink. Breathe, breathe. Day in, day out.
I personally love the 80's techno-style everything and music and stuff..

The new concept looks exactly like my style! And like the other poster said, it's nice to have some future back in Future World.

Well it's difficult to say until it's sampled in person but I have to say it looks good in the art work. Whatever they do they'll upset somebody, be it those that like it how it is or those who want something completely different. The point is they're doing something and it appears they've put a bit of thought into it which is good. I'm one who likes TT as it is however I'm looking forward to the changes and can't quite understand those bad mouthing something they've not seen yet?
