That's fair, so Avatar would 100% fit, plus it's hypocritical of me when Dragon's Lair is the land I'm doing. Sorry about that.
Dragon’s Lair is built on traditional fantasy tropes. If King Kong’s use of traditional pulp adventure tropes counts it, I say Dragon’s Lair counts as well

Okay! So in this case scenario, it applies in this situation. We should probably take note of this and include this in an explanation to why both Avatar and Dragon's Lair are in Islands Of Adventure just in case.

I think IoA is largely moved away from its original literature theme anyways that the justification isn’t THAT needed and on top of that, the park as a whole has a new context regardless with the new backstory.

Okay, that's fair. Besides, we wouldn't want to contradict ourselves if so with the literature justification.

@mickeyfan5534 do we have any concrete info on the father of Lin and Su Beifong? I'm thinking that might be an interesting direction to go with the villain. I definitely think the villain should have a working class blue collar vibe to him as a contrast to the mostly warlord villains of the series. Right now the name "Garryn" is sticking out to me as a villainous sounding Avatar name. The main plotline I'm leaning towards is Garryn being a working class lightning or metal bender who's son was killed in a construction accident. Either that or he just ideologically disagrees with the "melting pot" philosophy behind Empire City...but that might be too similar to Amon's storyline. I'm also still very interested in Giancarlo Esposito lending his voice and likeness to the original character.

What are everyone's thoughts on ditching a second Avatar ride in favor of having more space to flesh out the interactive LARP elements of the land? I really want to go all in with that side of things and make it as fully realized as we all wish Galaxy's Edge was.

I just got home so I’ll take a look in a bit after I eat my PB&J

I really want that spirit realm ride just because the idea of it sounds SO AMAZING. Maybe have Aang be the host? Or what about Katara and Sokka?

If this were set post-Korra book two the spirit world ride would write itself. As of now I'm having trouble coming up with a legit in-story reason why guests would actually be going there. Having Aang be the guide would work I guess. I think similarly to River Journey building up to the Shaman of Song, this should build up to Iroh singing "Leaves on the Vine". My one struggle with that though is Aang would surely tell Zukko of Iroh being in the spirit world if he ever encountered him there. Haha, that one little bit with Zukko being surprised at Korra telling him about Iroh is really throwing the whole thing into chaos for me conceptually. Of course we don't HAVE to include Iroh, but I mean come on...it's (bleep)-ing Iroh. He's kind of the mascot of the spirit world.

Speaking of Zukko, it would be a travesty if the “Firelord Zukko still works at the tea shop” joke from the fandom doesn’t get pulled into canon here.

Don't suppose someone wants to try drawing some concept art of Giancarlo Esposito as a metal-bender.

Speaking of concept art, one piece I absolutely DEMAND is a "ground-breaking ceremony" for the land featuring a bunch of earth-benders instead of people with shovels.

OMG, I've been struggling with the dining but yea a tea shop is a MUST. Maybe Iroh's tea shop from Ba Sing Sei has been franchised out by a young up and coming Verrick?

Here's the family tree from Avatar wiki. Regardless, I don't think Toph would go for someone who would think like that.

I do like the idea of him being blue-collar though. Very grassroots with his plans kinda?

Yea, the one thing I'm struggling with is making him too much like Amon. One idea I like that Amon touched on which we could go further with if we explore the blue collar theme is the issue of benders replacing non-benders in factory work. The closest comparison I have for this guy is MCU Vulture. One idea to explore is him being a non-bender who's using the same bending gloves the guests use for the land's interactive elements for nefarious purposes. This would give a decent in-universe explanation as to why the bending gloves wouldn't be around by the time we get to Korra. It was a noble idea to enhance the lives of non-benders, but the power got exploiting leading to a major incident. This would also really add to the whole "guests are part of the story" element. Maybe were actually being recruited by him in the storyline and the land itself very much has a divide in political opinion over Zukko and Aang's vision for the city. As I said though, do you think all this underground revolution by a non-bender stuff sounds a bit too much like Amon?

I like it. Also, Firelord Zukko manning the register every now and then "in disguise" as Lee I feel is just... THE needed gag of the land.

Speaking of which, how old would the characters be in this timeline ten years after the founding of Republic City? Is this something you can look up with any accuracy?

Garryn's son is killed along with a handful of other non-benders in a major construction accident during the initial construction of Republic City, which prompts Aang to enlist benders into the blue collar positions out of fear of another incident happening. This puts Garryn's construction union out of work and us much as Aang tries to personally reach out to his family to help him, he still blames that Avatar for his son's death but also think Aang's misguided sense of self-righteousness (something we KNOW is one of his main character flaws...) is quietly wiping out his line of work.

Now as long as we can figure out the source of the bending gloves we'd be golden. My first instinct is Verrick, but I think him being a tea shop franchiser at this point in the timeline makes sense for him. Maybe they could be invented by Sato?

Thinking about it: does the Spirit Realm ride really NEED a host? It could really be this land's Na'vi River Journey but even greater because it's Iroh.
