I'm going to keep my name in for horror just because we still have a few openings, but if there's someone who doesn't have anything who wants it, let me know.

Well I guess I'm doing romance now lol

I've been thinking more about the general area within Port of Entry. Here's a map. The Red Box is our ride, The Yellow Box is the Splatoon Shooting Attraction. I've moved the river (Blue Line) up a bit to make way for the queue line -- nothing major but should help to make things less cramped. Guests enter from the outside of the "funnel" so they don't get caught up in the guests arriving into the park, while they exit into the funnel to move back outside with the stream (stopping by all the shops attracting buyers).

The building it exits from is right next to the Christmas Shop which is currently occupied by a facade. This area could possibly be converted into a bookstore themed gift shop or could divert it and just exit into the Christmas Shop.

Now for my big suggestion, because I know I'm getting eliminated if I only do the small romance section, so I suggest the green area. This is currently the Backwater Bar, a tucked-away pub right next to the far more popular Confisco Grille. I was thinking of ways to tie this place into our attraction, and I think I found something.

So in the 1930s and 1940s, a group of Oxford Academics formed an informal literary club to discuss fiction and encourage their own writings. They called themselves "The Inklings", and they consisted of many now famous British authors, most notably JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis. The Inklings would always meet at a local pub, The Eagle and Child.

I suggest we take inspiration from this true event and set up our own "Inklings" of famous historical authors -- from Homer to Lovecraft -- all who discreetly gather in Backwater Bar to converse with each other, share tidbits of knowledge, and explore literature. These authors would be played by improvisational actors, somewhat like the Adventurer's Club though on a much smaller scale, and they would rotate in and out as the day goes by. All characters would be played respectfully, and would share their often very interesting life story to any guest who seeks.

Great idea! Although, if you don’t want romance, I think jokers said that horror was still available if someone wanted it?

Nah that was more a joke, I'm fine with taking romance. I'll probably do Pride and Prejudice, followed by a subtle Hunchback reference to lead into @AceAstro 's Les Mis scene... it's only one IP for this one, correct? Is Historical Epic getting two? A bit confused there.

I think it’s one of each? Although I will say that the 12 scene thing from the Great Movie Ride isn’t necessarily a hard and fast rule if we want Romance and Historical Epic having 2

I’m fine just doing Romance of The Three Kingdoms at the end. Was just trying to think of an easy way to transition between the two areas so having a subtle nod to hunchback and then Les Mis was easy in my mind

All good. One more isn't a problem at all, especially if we are trying to create a grand finale.

For me, I'll write up a small scene for Romance but will spend most of my time focuses on the Backwater Bar.

I’m pretty sure that the Hobbit is one of the scenes in the fantasy section and I know little to nothing about the book so I’ll do my research but once I’ve finished I’ll need the input of anyone who’s read the book lol

Full circle from the LOTR ride? 😆

Here's the scene I recommend you pull, it's the most iconic --

(Audiobook as we are basing it off the book)

I own this book so if you need any direct source material, let me know!
Thanks! I'm thinking about having the main focus of the scene on Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves (since Sinbad's been used plenty of times in theme parks). With a second story incorporated in there that I still have to decide on.

Got any suggestions (beyond Aladdin and Sinbad)?

One way to transition from Horror to Adventure is using the City of Brass.

In that Story, they find an embalmed princess. By ignoring the warnings they take the treasure. The statues come alive to try to kill them.

You could have been the transitions be the statues moving towards the guests before you see the princess.

Hm, it seems every genre we're featuring in the ride and the presentation is already taken. In that case, I'll take the other aspects of the ride (ride facade, general backstory, ride vehicles, etc.) then.
I think horror might still be open. I believe @JokersWild might have been keeping an initial watch on that one, so if you check with him, you should be able to hop in on that.

I had initially taken horror partially as a placeholder because I thought we still had spots open. But also, I totally forgot that this ride needs a finale, unless @AceAstro was accounting for that in his scene, but I would think that it would be separate from his scene. If you want to take horror, by all means, or if Ace wasn't planning on folding it into his scene, and you want to take a shot at a finale, that works too.

Also, have we solidified a ride system yet? That's something that we really need to be on the same page about, obviously. I still vote for trackless as it would allow us to put in smaller vignettes and bring out more unique experiences for the larger scenes.

Trackless makes sense to me

I think a trackless ride system would make for a good system for a ride like what we're designing. And yeah, if someone wants to take up the finale, then definitely go for it.

By the way, I'm happy to see how quickly folks have picked up the ball for this one. This is my first try as a team leader for this game, so hopefully I do alright with such an enthusiastic and creative bunch of folks.

Anyway, I did some research on potential inspirations for ride scenes. This is a bunch of potential ideas, so folks can choose anything that strikes their fancy or pull any ideas they might have.
