Alright so if I’m understanding correctly:
  • Marvel Superhero Island becomes DC
    • I suggest basing this off the DCAU for continuity’s sake
  • Toon Lagoon becomes Zelda
    • Admittedly I’ve never played Zelda so I have no opinion here
  • Suess Landing becomes Kung Fu Panda
    • Ok, look. I like Kung Fu Panda. It’s a fun franchise. But... I’m not really excited by the idea of exploring the world of Kung Fu Panda. It just seems very meh especially to fill an entire land out. So may I suggest another children’s IP with heavy Asian influence...

Team TMNT seems to be going forward with Avatar already.

Yeah, I mean there’s people who haven’t gotten to voice their opinion bc they’re probably smart and are asleep lol... there’s other animated options though... it doesn’t necessarily have to fall under the Universal umbrella as long as it isn’t being utilized in other theme parks

A Bond area. James Bond is timeless. There will always be a new Bond. A stunt show, a car chase attraction, etc. could all be worth it.
...Did you just go through my Google search history because I was thinking the same thing?

Well this thread exploded I gotta catch up big time now
Same, Outbound, same. I turn away for 45 minutes to work on something and suddenly there are 6 pages worth of replies to go through.

How about Studio Ghibli? Though admittedly, I know little about their content aside from its titles (Spirited Away comes to mind now).

Hahaha I’m just shocked Bond hasn’t gotten some form of theme park representation yet

I think it’d be really cool, but if we go this route we should probably take out Lost Continent. Because ideally we should be retheming Toon Lagoon’s water rides and the area in Suess Landing has to remain child friendly.

The new Scoob movie was mentioned as a possibility too... I think that’d be an interesting route to explore, but it may not be as unique as a Studio Ghibli route

Nothing against this but Scoob was such a character assassination...

I was just about to say the same thing about Bond... haven’t seen the Scoob movie, not surprised tbh lol

Studio Ghibli is notoriously tough to get rights to, but they have been granting theme park rights in Japan.

We hadn’t gotten far enough yet, but my thought for DC was to give it its’ own aesthetic, but it’s not really going to be a huge sticking point, I just don’t want to get this stuck in a pre-established universe.

For Nintendo, we had also discussed Metroid, Star Fox, and Mother, so there are more than enough options outside of Zelda.

Yeah, I think we definitely have options... and if I remember correctly, the point of the prompt is that everything in these lands is getting leveled anyways, so it’s not like you’re just reskinning these attractions. If we’re not a fan of any of the animated ideas/don’t think they’re realistic, I think a Bond land would be a cool option

Just wanted to throw in that Team TMNT's Avatar land is based around Legend of Korra, not The Last Airbender. Though I'm sure there will be TLA references included. Not trying to influence the decision one way or another here, but it'd be kind of cool to have two different Avatar lands based on entirely different series :)

Me trying to keep up with the thread (isn't like 3 AM on your side of the world??):

Anyway, just that I'm in the loop, the prompt said we have $2 billion dollars at our disposal for retheming three lands. Is that the reason why we're pushing for doing overlays of majority of the existing rides instead of starting from scratch for each land? Do we have to produce like a "budget breakdown" thing to show we're working within the allotted budget?

Makes sense to level Lost Continent instead, seeing as it's next to Hogsmeade...

Maybe we can make an "announcement" saying that it will be duplicated in Universal Studios Osaka to get over that clause? I'm assuming that was the deal for Super Mario World in USO and USF:EU.

Hey, this is great. I’m used to having to wait all day to get responses :p

I don’t think that we’re talking about overlays at all. For DC at least we’re planning on leveling the land.

And that USJ thing might not work since Ghibli already has theme park deals with other companies (or maybe not. Point being there is already a Ghibli park near Tokyo, I believe.

Welcome to Monte Carlo, a citystate of high risks and high rewards. MI6 has been called in to investigate the gatherings of numerous top profile crime lords. Rumor has it they are working together to secure control over the World Security Council... unfortunately for them, 007 happens to be in town...
Love it. I’d be way down for Bond. Maybe DC, Bond, and video games? Or do we really want to do Dreamworks/ Illumination?
